A WIP - I'm a bit worried about my main bread-texture (not the crust or
filling, they're just roughs), but I can't quite put my finger on what the
problem is (and I may be switching to a croissant anyway). Any ideas?
The texture is
pigment{rgb<1,1,0.9>}
normal{average turbulence 1 normal_map{[bozo 2 scale 4][leopard 15 scale
0.05 turbulence 1]}}
finish{ambient 0.5}
+ some blobs differenced to create the real dimples.
BTW The inspiration came from having my father convalece with me for a few
days after he came out of hospital - he arrived with several of the sputum
jars.

Nice!
But... (Always a 'but')
Bread is too white, and cheese (?) is too green.

too white? what kind of white bread do you eat? i don't think it's
white enough! :) cheese is too green and too big. it's a slab of
cheese, not a slice. maybe all that you need for the texture is
radiosity with normals turned on? i don't know. maybe.

Perhaps "too bright" would have been more descriptive.

Trying radiosity occured to me - I'll give it a go over the w/e.

The crust looks good but needs to be a tad more shiny, the bread is too
white, shape wise it's great, reminds me of that Colemans advert or is
it Helmans, the one with the bloke with long hair and the music from
Take Heart.

You're right, that's what I meant.

2nd go, with radiosity. Crust and cheese are still very much roughs
(although the crust pigment, with radiosity, has turned out better than I
expected).
BTW, the first render with radiosity came out rather blue - soon fixed by
lowering the blue component of the light (a bit too much?). Is this usual?
(my radiosity settings are unrefined at present - I just copied them in as a
block from my ocean irtc pic).

Looks much better IMO. :) The cheese is too yellowish I think, it looks like
mustard... skew it towards orange a bit.

Hmm, yeah just a tad too much. It does look yellowish to me. Slight shifts may
have a greater impact than one would expect.
