Once again ... my Still-life
I added the the photons and a simple mirror-sphere ...
But why is the bottom of the wine-glass soooo bright ???
and the colors on the candles ??? they seem to come from the
photons ...

Seems a concentration of photons due to the candle stand inside curvature.
Neat effect even though unintentional. The wine glass probably needs
'ignore_photons' to be used so that the glass itself isn't affected.

It has a beautiful atmosphere. Perhaps a little too sharp...especially the
textureof the page and the sharpness of the printing. The fruit is superb.
The yellow candle stick is too bright and yellow.

Nathan will, no doubt, come along and make a suggestion on control of the
photons re: candle stick. I've forgotten all I ever learned about it
(refresher upcoming), but I believe there should be a collsection of effects
there at the candle base, just not as intense as this. :)
I like what you have done here. The caustic effect resulting from the wine
glass is superb!
I like the effect with the musical scale, as well. ;)
My only complaint, at this stage, is the wood surface. Ergo: I would weather
it a tad - no, I'd weather it a lot. :)

Did I say: Render Time: ca. 6h
Parse Time: ca. 10sec
Photons: ca. 4h ... :-(
If I lower the photons there will be spots visible ...

If I'd use the ignore_photons for the glass, would it still let
the photons pass and create the effect, but the very lightend
ground of it will go ???

It was one of my first ideas ... quite a huge while ago...

Don't know exactly what you mean ...
But I'm thinking about adding focal blur, but I'm asking myself
on which object to focus, and of course, the render time ...
I don't like the pre-processing-focalblur, cause of its
'incorrectness' ... (to me it ever looks a bit faked ;)

The fruits are just a torus (for the apple [I hope it is one])
and a bezier patch for the banana(in Moray done in a minute)...
the rest are textures ...

That will cause the glass itself to not be photoned but still do the photon
caustics around it. Can't say for sure that will remove the base brightness,
might need to make sure there isn't any air gap between it and the table, in
fact that alone could prevent the base glow. I didn't think the glass looked
very wrong elsewhere before anyhow.
Sure hope you're saving the photon map to disk at 6 hours per, should you get
a good one that's a time-saver on the next render with AA or resolution
changes. Just don't ask me about if their are bad effects in doing so because
I don't know.

The intense light buildup at the lower end of the candlestick indicates
something is not defined properly. I'm not sure how to fix that, yet.
Is the edge of the glass base and wood surface the same?
I've gotten great results with ignore_photons turned on for both glass and
liquid.
In a scene like this, if I used focal_blur at all, I might focus on a
central point, and then make adjustments so that the edges of the image were
just starting to blur. That's a good starting point, anyway. Ever consider
dust?
The wood surface needs bumps, at least, but I would use a very 'worn wood'
surface. You see, I try to make everything darker, more worn, dustier,
grittier, more messy, or even more...

Don't know about the problems with glass (though maybe ambient in the finish),
and the candel, but that's one fantastic texture on the appel. I like the
music.
