Hi everyone. Here's the clouds again, this time they get thicker towards
the horizon, and I 'tightened' the edges a bit. I changed the sun's
postition, added another light_source, and gave the ground a gravel-rock
texture. Even with all that, the render time was 2 minutes 45 seconds!
It rendered faster because I used a polygon instead of a plane for the
clouds this time.
Any q's or questions?

You've done it again. Looks improved too, but I really liked the sunshine in
the sky of the previous one. I forgot to mention before that I had used the
'ridged_mf' for clouds in a rendering a few weeks back, the image posted here
at p.b.i. was the desert islands thing with a bad boundary line intersecting
at a box and isosurface with pigment function.
Anyway, those clouds were terrible so I was surprised to hear yours were of
the same pattern. Oh I know now, I had used it in isosurface form and I guess
these are pigment pattern on the polygons. A big difference for sure.

It's beautiful man!!! You (and everyone else here) have inspired me to start
raytracing again and I'll actually have some time over summer vacation!
This is really cool, I like how the light shines off the side of the little
hill, the texturing is also really cool, great job!

I wanted to make the light shine on the hills better, which means taking the sun
out of the view. The 'sun' was just a disc behind the light_source with a special
texture+finish to make the sun appear visible.

Yeah, I just saw it. I tried making such clouds out of an isosurface and had no
luck at all. Any attempt resulted in a higher rendering time anyways.

To use ridgedMF as a pigment, I had to divide the heck out of it, or else terrible
lines would show up. See code at p.text.scenes-files

I think, you can see the ridges in the clouds much better now, I will
have to try it instead of the bozo pattern i usually use.
NTL, the bottom side of the clouds looks a bit flat, some change in the
color map would be worth trying.
I really like the shadows on the terrain, without the clouds it would
look a bit like the pictures from mars.
