Here's the latest rendering. I didn't intend for the beams around the door
to look like that. They were too thin, so I pumped them up and sent it to
render. I seem to have overshot (by a lot). :P I'm thinking of improvements
on the fans. I will soon add some new parts to the pipes, as per Ken's
suggestion. (I haven't forgotten the panels and other decorations, but those
will come later.) My next big decision is what to put "up there". Oh, and
since adding this to my messages seems to help for more people to respond,
I'll say it again: Please give me plenty of opinions and suggestions. Thanks
again. :)

I think I liked the shape of the first archway better. I didn't think the
empty space above it was a problem, either, gave it a nice sense of scale.
The pipes are looking good. Can't really say whether I like the fans alot.
Hard to tell without the textures.

The arch is exactly the same. I only changed the doorway. The beams, as I
said, were an overshot.

Oh, it was never a problem, just another one of those overshots that I left
in. It will stay in. I'm still trying to decide what to put up there.

Great.

>Can't really say whether I like the fans a lot.

Me neither. That's why I'm still working on them. I kinda want to do
everything and put everything where it's supposed to be, and then go about
fine-tuning things.

>Hard to tell without the textures.

Those will come last of all. First will be the modelling.

I think it'd be cool (in the final versions) to have media streaming through
the fans, light reflecting off dust and what not, and to make the lighting
generally dark except for the light coming through the fan blades.

Big improvement from the last version. Still needs something in the ceiling
to justify the large amount of space there. The blue sky showing through the
fan looks a bit misplaced I think. I like the sterile look, hope you don't
plan to add too 'messy' textures.

Looks like something you might find very deep in the insides of the
ship. Not sure what kind of ship, though...it could be a spacecraft, an
oil tanker, a submarine, or even a stationary facility like a lunar base
or an oil rig. You need more visual hints there, maybe an obviously
misplaced diving mask or a helmet for an environment suit.

The size of the passageway seems to imply that large pieces of machinery
are moved through here sometimes, but the door is obviously too small.
Maybe make a huge door nearly as tall and wide as the archway?

I agree with Paul Vanukoff that this would look good as a dark scene
with the apparent main source of light coming through the fans. Maybe
make a row of failing lights on the ceiling, with most of them
completely dark and one or two at about 20 or 40 percent intensity. Use
fade_distance on the overhead lights(not on the fan lights), a dusty
media atmosphere, and radiosity for a good lighting effect.

And maybe have water or some other fluid partially covering the bottom
of the room, at an angle, as if the ship is at rest on an
incline(perhaps adrift after crash-landing in an ocean or beached
somewhere) and damaged.

Some nice foul green drippage.

That's exactly what the idea is! :D

I just got tired of black on the bg, so I changed it to blue. All that is
temporary, of course. Oh, and I hope heavy, thick rust isn't too messy. Like
I said before, I plan on making several, alternate versions of this image.
Same view, possibly same lighting, but different textures. Something like a
"before" and "after".

Hey, I like this idea. Thanks for the suggestions.
