Still a lot of work to do.
Someone was doing a building macro recently, is it available yet, I could
use some buildings for this scene.

Peter H.

Ouch!
:)
It looks really _hot_ now. I really like the way it looks. Have you tried to
make it just a little bit brighter? It doesn't have to be, of course, and
you've probably tried different combinations already. ;-) And you've got
those supporting rods on the tripod, too!
Now, let's have an old Victorian train to blow up with that ray!

Now that I've seen the painting of this I'm even more impressed, and it's pretty
darned cool looking to begin with. I could only think of the kind from either
the radio show (drawings about that?) or the original book or something.
Found a picture I was thinking of and this is actually similar anyway I guess.

I had previously tried the one from the 1953 movie.

Once again, I don't know if this will work, but let me post a message to
an actual article again.
Bob, I think the very best MWM's are the ones in the Classic Illustrated
Comic Book. They knock my socks off! That cover is just spectacular. I
had to search for a couple of years to find a copy, but it was just as
good as I remembered it, which is really a testimonial to the design,
since I hadn't seen one in over thirty years. The guy had a great
imagination and the skill to render it, no pun intended. I haven't been
able to find in illustration of the cover in the net, so if you find
one, please let me know.
I have always wondered how the tripods walked, too, which is why I made
mine fly. :-) The Discovery Channel had a biography of Wells on a few
years ago (narrated by Donald Sutherland, do you can identify it) that
had some computer generated anims of MWM's very similar to the one in
your example. They are certainly worth catching the show for if it ever
comes on again.

Well, a quick search at www.northernlight.com with the keywords "Classic
Illustrated Comic Book" garnered a good hit on the first site in the search
list. They have a small pic of the cover, AND often have the comic for sale
in case you want to read it again after all these years.
http://classicscentral.com/list12.htm scroll down to issue #124.
Here's a much larger scan of the cover
http://www.rudysclassics.com/pic9/ci124c.jpg .
Something else I found that may be of help is this
http://www.hoboes.com/html/Comics/Meetings.html . It seems to be a list of
comics-based newsgroups, etc..

It looks very agile for its size.
I agree, it would be nice with some buildings.

Has anyone actually played the game? It's quite cool to be a mid-price game
we seen one before?). But this one captures the feeling and mood of WOTW
perfectly! Playing the humans you feel absolutely desperate against those
walking nightmares! And that Victorian setting, with 'mechanology' rather
than technology. And that stiff language! :) I drool when I think of it. But
of course, It might have been me, who falls very quickly in love with such
things...
