Yeah, last night I fixed it though. I had only textured one of the
cylinders, the other two were still flat white. Oops. There are all textured
the same now in my final image.

Actually, I wanted a sphere neatly split into 27 pieces (3x3x3) but also
wanted the rounded edges, so I went with 27 superellipsoids instead, as my
modelling skills aren't snazzy enough to do my original idea. I assume I
could do it using an isosurface (?) but I haven't even messed with mega yet.

Pretty cool.

If light beams are visible, it's not in dust-free, empty space, hence the
beams have to be so big and powerful to get where they're going without
substantial attentuation (where's yall's imagination??).

Is it media?
Stylistically, the idea of the refracted image of the ball in the center cube
is pretty cool, although I would like to see it a bit bigger. I had to give it
a doubletake, because I thought the ball was just in the closest corner cube
for a sec...

Thanks... I thought so.

No, just carefully textured planes. I set the normal of each plane to point
towards the camera. If you look at it long enough, the beams start looking
2D-ish, but I think the effect is nice nonetheless.

Actually, that is the reflection of the 3 frontmost nozzles. It does look
like a ball though.

You could have used 26 because the center one is blocked from all sides. That's
the kind of stuff truly efficient POVers do, but I'm a lazy inefficient
spaghetti POVer. :-)
