No, just carefully textured planes. I set the normal of each plane to point
towards the camera. If you look at it long enough, the beams start looking
2D-ish, but I think the effect is nice nonetheless.

Actually, that is the reflection of the 3 frontmost nozzles. It does look
like a ball though.
