Hello!
Here is my entry to calculator contest. This calculator is made by
memory and I'm not sure, whether dimensions or number of button rows is
correct, but it should be quite close. Functionality of this calculator
seems to be a little bit limited at first glance (only addition and
subtraction), but as it could be seen from picture, is can handle Life,
Universe and Everything quite well ;-)
Models are created with Rhino, placed by hand in POVRay script. Render
time was 2min. 18sec, total time from idea to realisation 1.5 hours.

Well, I cheated a little bit here: only shorter sides have this tongue
and groove cuts and these sides are moved a little bit outside to get
desired effect. Longer ones don't have them.

No, they are really curved.

Nice work, what's it called. I didn't notice the curve in
the rods until someone else mentioned it.
I created an abacus last year to show my dat what I wanted
him to make for me for christmas, (image on my web site), I
want to learn how to use an abacus properly with division,
multiplication and so on. I found instructions on a web
site, but lost all the data when my hard disk went
recently. Hopefully I'll find the site again, there might
have been one of these calculators there too.

This is not a contest? Really? Sorry, I thought that it was! j/k
Well, competition is a Good Thing (TM), it brings this POVRay community
to higher level. One gets idea, shows it, other one thinks: "I can do
better!" and does indeed. Then this better implementation is posted to
source files and everybody can use it. Remember all those sea scenes,
sky scenes, etc.
Of course my picture falls here out of line, and so does this thread. If
someone has thoughts about it, then perhaps in p.o-t.?
