Here is the medal my new "employer" gave me.

This post will not self-destruct in five seconds.

Just for fun but I had a hell of a time laying out the letters. They are
I somewhat changed the words on the medal (I am european). I hope that
you on the other side of the Atlantic won't be offended.
One last thing, this is not the final version, but comments on what to
add are welcomed.

Fun huh, o-kay...
That metal for the medal (ha) is so fine. Very nice. As with many such 3D
things this one causes me to see an optical illusion, difficult to make
out which way the imprint is going. That's just me though, I'm sure :)
The lower words look great, the upper words have obvious separation
fluctuations. Not a subliminal message about some sort of German WWII "SS"
orginazation (boo, hiss) is it? The "IMP" part sure seems familiar ;)
I take it you didn't use something like a curved text include or the
program Elefont? You're a brave man if not.

Is it mere coincidence that "Impossible Mission Force" and
"International Monetary Fund" have the same initials? :-)
Also, I'd be a little wary of hanging that thing around my neck if it's
going to self-destruct in 5 seconds.

I very much like the pewter like look of the metal. The theme is
recognizable and lends itself well to this image.

Very nice, but just one small point :)
Why qould an organisation that 'does not exist' produce medals, isn't that a
bit like the Roswell Air Force base selling plastic UFO and Alien models in
its gift shop?

No, I would never do such a thing. I don't do politics when raytracing. ( you
know what you've hit a sore spot)

I used the # fopen file feature. It goes like
"I",3.5,
"M",9.5,
"P",5.5
and so on. The figure after the letters is the width of each letter to center
it on the <0,0,0> point and manipulate them more easily. I can tell you, that
was a head-scratching thing.

I used a trick. A plane with a B&W fractal image_map is set in front of the reflective
medal. It's a
trick commonly used with lightwave.

So you didn't use anything like a font measuring 'include' (forget what,
where it is, or even if it exists), just estimated the widths yourself?
