Do you have any suggestions?
Thanx in advance

Clouds are too white for the sunset time of day. Shadows are practically
nonexistent. Water is... well, weird. Actually the image overall isn't so
bad, has a different look to it, uniqueness, which can be good.
I'd say get the shadow side of those pyramids darker along with their
corresponding ground shadows. I'm guessing it turned out this way to
better illuminate everything else. There's always ambient to add to
textures like the ground, water and sky. Unless of course this is the
reason no shadows are obvious, then never mind, lower the ambient then.
The colorful water goes with this well somehow, don't know why.

The sky is nice, very sunset-y, although a little too red; maybe these are
Martian pyramids? :-)
The sand could definitely use some work as could the river, I don't quite get
all the colors in the water, supposed to be reflections of the sky? Try
scaling down the texture a lot on the sand just for a lark, but I think it
might need to be started from scratch. Also, try a texture looking more like
brick on the pyramids since they should be made of blocks.

The form of this is nice, so is the lens flare, but the ground, river and
textures are not that hot, sorry.

try using a HF for the ground, and for sand make the bump much smaller, like
real sand. look forward to seeing how this come's out!

Actually, should the pyramids be in such splendid condition, they should be
smooth alabaster (I think it is).

For some reason I like the water (Quake-ish I suppose), but I think it's all
wrong with the presented lighting.

Keep on tracing! :)

It's meant to be perfectly smoothe lime stone, (don't ask me
where they got the lime stone from, because I don't know). The
reason why the pyramids are now stepped is because thieves stole
the limestone because it was valuable in that part of the world.
[i.e. they traded with Europeans for the limestone.] The
limestone wouldn't have weathered away/eroded in such a small
space of time.

The stepped layers that we see today are sandstone and readily
available in the regiou, (if you've got lots of money). The
builders of the pyramids weren't slaves, as they've supposadly
found scroles which detail accounts for the building of the
pyramids, including payment for labour.

Having said all of this, there is a very similar image in one of
the rounds of the IRTC.

Cheers
Steve

Steve,

You're right, of course. I re-referenced this subject as I remembered
seeing alabaster used, only to find that the pyramids were constructed of
two types of limestone, and granite. The outer, more robust layer of
limestone was polished, upon completion, until it shone like alabaster.

  I stand corrected. :)

I imagine a freshly build pyramid must have been a fantastic
sighte.

That's what I hear+ACE- :)
I just did a search under Infoseek (+ACI-Egyptian+-pyramids+-construction+ACI-). The
first link I received lead me to a site where they did a modern cost
analysis. If you have twenty years and nearly +ACQ-300Million U.S., well...
  Pretty interesting stuff.
