This is my work-in-progress image for the IRTC history round.. the
titanic on the bottom of the sea.

Things I still have to do:
- Add rusticles.. a lot of them. This is the most work.. luckily, I
think I can use the liquid spray for this.
- Fix up the brass textures. Should be darker brown, less yellow.
- Use an arealight. Makes light a bit darker.
- Do something about the visible floor through the door... probably
extend it a bit, maybe use a heightfield.
- Get rid of lousy looking sand at base of walls.. that was a failure.
- Improve some textures... the walls have a nice normal, but it is
almost invisible with the light at this angle.. maybe replace the light.

- Maybe a fog of some kind? Probably not, haven't had luck with this in
the past.
- General tweaks, here and there.

About 3/4 of the image is spatch, the other 1/4 is heightfields and CSG.

It is rather accurate, and I did a lot of research. However, lack of
time will preclude any more accuracy :(

Really good work.

I think that the sand at the bottom of the walls could work,
maybe a bit darker in colour.

Maybe could do with some loose objects on the deck that we can
see, such as bits of metal/brass, shells, a few stones/small
rocks.

I'd suggest a small fish or two darting away from the view of the
camera.

Cheers
Steve

I suggest media atmosphere, lots of tiny objects floating in the water, and a
spotlight. Hope you have lots of computer power, though.

Can you give some specifics?

Since the pic is due by the end of friday, I don't have the time for
experimentation and rendering :)

I use Moray, and I've never figured out Media atmospheres that look good...

I think this is a case where you could play with the camera{normal}
statement with interesting results, using a bump, or a wrinkle,...

here's a thaught, try using brown lights, to simulate the siltty brown
colour of the water. (or maybe slightly yellow?)

overall, very good!

Actually, I've experimented with slightly blue lights, and to very good effect!
It look deep, and murky at the same time.

This rendering was with white light to best see how it looks.... It was a test
render, in the end.

I'll try your suggestions, though.

Hmm now you say you went into a lot of detail as far as accuracy goes, but
shouldn't there be some sort of seam at the bottom of the doorway?

Crud.

Yes, you are very right! My reference pics were at such an angle that the door
"walls" obscured that actual entrance. I'll fix it up today.

Thanks for noticing!
