Been lurking here for a bit.
Here's an effort of mine... comments and criticism encouraged.
I'm not quite sure what it is ... but I like the look of it.

Hmm, kind of reminds me of Matt Decker's ride into Hades through the mouth
of the doomsday device. Hmmm, can't recall the name of his ship...Intrepid?
Anyway, nice work! :)

Think that's right... I'm not sure what it is either, but then I didn't
make it.
Provides a sense of motion to me. And energetic goings-on too. Cool
image. Was it too slow a render to animate, even at 320x240 say? Just a
few frames (30?) in a loop would be neat. Pulsating fast or turbulently
moving along the length of that plasma.

I like the purple and white glow(media I assume).
Although this is just personal taste, I think I would make those--I
guess you would
call them housings-- black with a low roughness to make them look like
black metal. They look a bit plastic in a mechanical feeling image. Also
I think I
would try the tips with gold or silver-- probably silver.
Just my opinion...
It looks pretty cool though, it reminds me of the inner-core of the
Death Star

I love posts where the image is really cool and the artist says, "I
don't know what it is...."
makes my imagination fly ... Every bit of it is cool, but it does seem
to need more. What? I don't kow, it's your concept - however I look
forward to seeing any prgress you make. I can give you my first
impression - Looked like something I would expect to see on the cover of
HeavyMetal magazine hmmm....

Cool!
I don't go for space images much but I really like this one.
It's quite refreshing to hear someone say that they don't really
know what the thing is that they've created, rather than someone
sitting down and saying I'm going to make a picture of my
motorbike. It's as though you've been doodling in POV and come
up with something amazing.
Did you code or use a modeller?
Cheers
Steve

My vote is for "Construction of the transductional mode in the matter
curve".
Very cool image, but I would suggest, if you explore this image more, to
move the camera more towards the left without changing the Look_at
value, which will add a sense of movement that this doesn't have. The
perspective makes it a bit hard to follow, but the textures are very
well done. Keep up the good work

Lurker decloaked!
I like this image, although I can't really relate to it, it looks like it's
snitched from a Sci-Fi movie somewhere..
Media in the middle?

This picture looks pretty much like another one which was rendered with
3DSMAX I saw somewhere. I think it's especially due to the media in the
center.
I think that using depth of field would improve this already good
picture.

What? You don't recognise the barrel of a laser-directed plasma pulse
weapon when you see one?
