This is a desk. It has a chair, and a lamp. I've been having problems
with the lamp, can't get the dome to work right, so I made a hollow
cylinder.  Also, the pillows on the chair protrude through the back;
They're too large to be the right size for the chair if I move them
out. Also, the spotlight is a tad bright; I'm working on that.
I'm using Moray for the layout, and POV 3.1d(windows) for teh objects...
Strangely, I can't find anything in Moray that does just colors. (This
will end up being a replica of my desk I'm now using, however, it's
Black steel. I'm not up on creating my own textures in Moray yet.)
Just dropping it here for some criticism.
Michael

the textures are a bit dodgy, try moray's ballwood one for a good realistic
wood, put a white plain in below the desk, make the draw handles protrude
less from the draws, and maybe angle the lamp slightly.

three words - detail, detail, detail

also try the radioasity and AA (3x3 should do), oh an jpg are better than
gifs!!

sorry if i sound negative, but I expect honest, and usefull critism of my
work, and would not give any less.

so far so good, look forward to seeing it finished.

Rick

Well, the darkwood is closer to my actual desk, but I'll check it out.

That's one of my problems; the lamp. Needs to be played with.

Reason I used GIF is cause when i converted it to JPG, it fuzzed out the
pattern on the desk. That, plus the file is 4K larger in JPG (don't ask me
why).

Your criticism is most appreciated. Thanks much!

For the chair cushion there's always 'scale' to adjust an object until
right too.
I'm not sure what you mean about the light, looks okay... I presume you
are wanting a bit of a different shape which you haven't managed yet.
Other than using the 'area light' to smooth out the shadow line, seems
alright. Just need the lamp base.
Looking closer I see there is a cylinder of very white color at the
lower end, guess this is what you meant after all, or maybe not.
Happened to think of something you might experiment with. You could turn
that cylinder into a gradient filtered object which will create a soft
shadow at the edge of the light shining on the desk. I'd suggest
'spotlight' but then you don't illuminate the interior of the light
housing.

Anything you don't know how to do, just ask at the povray.general or
povray.moray (hint, hint) newsgroups (or back here). Answers (wrong or
not ;) are waiting to be given, 24 hours a day, seven days a week,
365.2424 days a year...
