Simple looping animation.

How: Downloaded and converted woman05.zip from 3Dcafe.com. Rendered with
Mael's mlpov. No lights, only radiosity and the "kitchen_probe" sample
light probe. Animated with a simple: rotate y*(clock*360).

Radiosity shadowing artifacts makes it look like it's next to a fireplace.
How do I prevent this?

I find that real-world lighting brings models to life in Povray. Light
probes make this ultra easy.

I've made MPEG and Windows Media Video 9 files. Despite being half the
size, the WM9 file seems less "blocky". I'll attach both as follow-ups,
choose the one appropriate for your platform.

Sorry about the MPEG being split over two messages, I didn't check my news
poster's cut mark before posting. All newsreaders should be able to handle
this, I don't know about the web interface? I can re-post in one block if
requested. Thanks.

Please don't come up with such nonsense assumptions if you don't know what
you are talking about. I don't really care if you make unreadable posts -
a few MB more unreadable download volume won't hurt me but this does not
apply to everyone and if you want people to read your posts that's a bad
idea anyway.

I think the deprecation of multipart messages should clearly be made part
of the AUP (it has become quite a plague in p.b.i. as well).

A little more politeness wouldn't harm. He admitted the mistake
and said he's sorry, so no need to bash him.

I also would appreciate it if multipart messages wouldn't
appear, they're of no use in these groups, where posts seem
to be larger than one "standard" post most of the time.
("standard" as in: "outdated"), but there's no reason to unload
frustration on one single person when several make the mistake.

Tim

I don't really see why i am more impolite than the poster of the original
message - surely i could have phrased it more diplomatically but if
someone - although recognizing his mistake - does not cancel and repost
his message and just says that everyone should be able to read it and that
he can be so kind to repost if requested this is not what i would call
polite.

And i have replied with a simple "please don't post multipart messages"
before - this does not have much effect as it seems. So in this case i
tried to make it very clear that it is in the own interest of the poster
not to do this. If this is received as too personal i am sorry.

I was referring to the very lines I had quoted:

How should anyone expect that newsreader wouldn't handle
multipart messages, if a newsreader does so itself? It's not
like you expect every program to set its own standards.

And being more harsh with people who do this very often is okay,
but not when someone did so accidentally. Aside of that, I don't
know how to cancel a post either. Right-clicking on the posts doesn't
give me an option like "Cancel this post", I may delete it from my
PC, but that doesn't do any good to anyone, does it?

But I'll leave it at that. No need to start some flaming war, eh? :-)
I see your point, but I hope you also see mine. Settings some
constrictions on these newsgroups would probably be a wise
thing to do...

Tim

Riiiggghhhttt.

If you can't figure out how to open it, don't open it I say. Your life
should still be a full and satisfying without it. Just your tapestry won't
quite be as full.

And if your newsreader doesn't open it then I suggest you change. Multi
part messages have been around for god knows how long and are quite common
else where.

We don't need your complaining in this group. We need helpful suggestions.
Degrading someones post as "nonsense" doesn't help in the least.

:)
