Ok.

No, but I've been thinking about it. I'll probably try it later.

Good idea. I will try it later. I think media will do a better job for smoke
too though.

Hmm, I agree.

What demoscene stuff are you talking about?

Thank you!

Really? :)

I'll try, but I don't think that will help. Media is the way I guess.

TonyB suggested that I should add turbulence to the glows to improve the
fire.

Here it is - I think it does improve it! It's a lot slower too though...

Eeeenteresting... I didn't think it would work that well... still, there's
something not quite right... Maybe you need to add more particles?

I actually think this looks excellent, especially at the very top where the
'flames' are dying. I think that what would make it even more realistic is
to speed it up - at the moment it looks like slo-motion fire. Maybe this is
what's causing people to comment on it's 'slight' lack of realism.

Also (if you are able), attatch some audio of a fire crackling... I'm sure
that would help ;-)

All the best,

Andy Cocker

When I look at it, I just think 'torch' with that swinging in the upper
part, it can't be that a big fire, but it has to be quite 'free' to burn
that way.
I like it very much. As Andy said, it is a bit slow for real fire. And I
miss a bit of green in the upper part (for which reason ever, I wouldn't
expect much of it in fire, but I can't help).

I've been looking at both, and it's fantastic. The edges are a little funky
on the bottom, as it fades out, but I don't know that there's much that can
be done about that, using glows. The top reminds me of the light from the
fire reflected off of smoke (smoke so dark you can't see it against the
background, maybe?)

Still, it's very nice. You might want to try adding a ground plane and a
few light sources (not sure what, or how, since one for every particle would
be *way* slow) to give the ground flickering. It would add a lot of
realism.

Geoff
