You know, when I saw the "original" metal-on-sphere
animation on the RealFlow website, I thought it looked
like "newbie-style-yet-advanced-animation".
Yours looks much better than theirs!
So, just a guess:
Have you already written a small executable
which "converts" the particle-data to "POV-Format",
or still a hand-done-job?
And, sadly, I'm a Purist-Pover, so I'll probably not
be able to at least try your stuff (no LightWave or
such availabe for scenes...)

Thanks. It's actually using mainly default parameters, as I just wanted
something I could design and render quickly.

I can't write an executable.. I wouldn't know where to start, but I would
*really* like one. At the moment my tutorial relies on using TextPipePro,
the evaluation version of which is due to expire any day now, and then I'll
be unable to continue (it's expensive!!).

It doesn't actually require Lightwave... just Lightwave format (or .dxf,
or.obj) meshes.. so any little modeler may suffice.

Nice. The goop seems unnaturally stiff as it falls off the sphere though.

I guess the RealFlow copy you're using now is a trial version? Or is it free
to use software?
Oh, man! I should finish that cloth thing, because it is able to simulate
yello, deformable cubes. (If I ever find the time to work on it!!!)

Am using a registered version on a friend's PC... no it's not free, but the
demo *may* be fully functional... (I should know that I suppose..)

Yes please do so! I'd rather want to see these physical laws coded into POV
instead of having all those other programs, freeware or not.. I realize I'm
"biased" when it comes to my favourite raytracer, but I honestly think these
are important features to have inside POV (first via SDL and one day: C) and
allows for much more usability in custom scenes.
Apache: Hmm, you know Rune is working on a particle system too and will
release it soon.. Are the principles in yours similar, have you tried to
cooperate, or do you compete?
I like the golden texture and "snowy" movement...

My particle system is completely different and doesn't have support for
inter-particle interaction. Integration of the two systems would most
likely be impossible.
BTW Andrew, very nice Realflow animation, but the material looks very
strange. The "behavior" is as if the material is very thick and sticky,
but yet it leaves the sphere completely clean. I would expect a thin
layer of the material to stick to the sphere.

Well, I also devised a non-stick texture for my sphere, of course. ;-)
But yes, you are quite correct... these are the default 'liquid' settings,
but in this case behaved more like gloop. But hey, I'm no Realflow expert
;-)
