I recently gained access to a network of 30 P3 800s running MP.07.
Anyway, this is what did with them.
http://darwin.cwru.edu/~wedig/summer/div43.avi (770KB)
As it stands now, It's very low quality (and unfinished). I'll put sound
in soon, and re-upload it.
This took me about 4 days to put together, on a P133 16MB Ram.
Comments?

Since I'm the provider, I'll say that they were only 15 PII 400 dual
processors (30 processors, though) I will also say that the render is now
done. I've put a (complete) version at

since Howard obviously doesn't mind people seeing it ;)
Incidentally, it's using DivX encoding, since that gives a lot of bang for
the buck. Howard, should I encode for the general populace as mpg, or would
you prefer to wait.

Well, as I got to watch it come alive, I think it's fantastic. The light
comes on a little to bright, too quickly, I think, but other than that, it's
fantastic. Still trying to figure out how you figure out things like the
mud so quickly. I have to experiment over and over to get such effects.

That sounds great, how do you come to have such equipment, do you freely
offer rendering time? :-)
BTW, the anim looks good, sadly some of the most interesting parts are
missing in the end (the mud stuff).
How was the mud done? It looks quite realistic.

Do it MPG. If you can, try and lower the res to 320x240. I'll be adding sound
as soon as the CD gets here. :)

Yeah, the light does come on a bit fast. But, hey, I bet the guy just turned
his headlight on. :)

A simple sphere, with a planar texture. Renders fast.

We have a supercomputing cluster at work, and I was told that they wanted to
get some high load specs on it.... Well, I can provide high load.
Bwa-ha-ha. So I've got a SC cluster to play with every now and again (ie,
nights and weekends). Knowing Howard's system, it wasn't much of a jump to
say "Hey, what can you do with some *real* power". This was the result.

The version I posted has it.

I've got the code, but I think I'll let Howard explain should he wish.

I'm not sure if you understood me right, i meant the mud splashing when
the robot's feet touch the ground and the shapes that remain afterwards.
I can recognize some spherical shape on the high raising stuff, but the
things remaining afterwards do not look like spheres.
The compression is quite strong so i'm not very sure about it. Maybe a
still of that part would help.

Done. It's at

Probably true. Might want to add one of those "BwwwwwoooooOOOOO" sounds of
a generator firing up then. ;)
