It will be released when it is complete. It will be available for the
public to beta test when it is ready for public beta. ;-)

Well, I am now wearing my mage uniform. Looking inside a glass sphere
(obviously set upon a checkered floo ;-)) I see... I see... I see...
*) beta testing starting may/june 2001
*) 3.5 released before Christmas 2001
*) stable version (3.5c/d) by march/2002
Please keep this message, so that we can check whether it is better for me
to stop consult and start a fortune-telling service...

From what I infer from the official information upon 3.5, it is a cleaned up
subset of MegaPOV 0.5... or is there something else? ;-)

Pretty close...read the message in "POV-Team Status Report - September
1, 2000" by Chris Cason in povray.announce.frequently-asked-questions.
I believe the code base is 3.1, not MegaPOV, though a lot of code from
MegaPOV will be added. And it will contain many of the features from
MegaPOV as well as a couple completely new ones, but the syntax and
usage won't necessarily be the same.

I don't have full understanding of the change logs of the version system
used by the pov-team (and I'm not sure if the team would like me telling
too much about the new version... :P ), but as far as I seen, there may be
more than just a subset of megapov features. Or perhaps I just haven't
understood correctly.
