Er, I mean third-party to Moray. Hehe.

Because I couldn't figure out how to use 3DS...still have my
pirated copy in its 50-odd rar files. Just in case I decide
to learn how to use it some day. I don't like its faceted
spheres, though. :P

I've been one day thinking about it, and I can't find something that "can't"
be done with Hamapatch. Sorry.

But what?. The models I do are not extremily difficult (actually are very
easy)
nor time comsuming (you can work very quickly with hamapatch).
I fear that you know about Hamapatch more or less what I know about
Rhino...

No worries...

That might tend to explain your level of happiness with Hamapatch. If I was
only interested in making "very easy" models, I'm sure Hamapatch would work
just fine... or even Moray, for that matter.

> I fear that you know about Hamapatch more or less what I know about

Perhaps. Both are sitting here on my HD, and when they're both open at the
same time comparison seems a bit.... unfair. I never meant to give the
impression that I somehow dislike Hamapatch. As software that can be
freely downloaded and used, it rocks. Placed next to a commercial product
such as Rhino, however, it's usefulness dims to obscurity.

SSSSHHHHH!
Don't tell Lutz you willingly posess pirated software. The next thing you
know we'll need to use a dongle for Moray.

Sorry, english is not my mothern language and sometimes I don't express
myself as
precisse as I would like (sometimes not at all).

I meant that the models I do are not extremely difficult (to do) (actually
are
very easy (to do)).
You can check the images

http://www.irtc.org/ftp/pub/stills/2002-02-28/juegos.jpg
Most of the objects in these images are made with hamapatch.
Both images obtained a Technical Merit Medal in the IRTC.

And I never meant to give the impression that I somehow dislike Rhino.

I'm not interested in Rhino, but I have read in this and others newsgroups
posts
from people that consider it an excellent program (as it is) but expensive.
If you know a link to a place where they can get it for half its price maybe
they
reconsider their opinion. Why not sharing it?.

Um...how would you use a dongle for Moray, and what exactly would
you do with it...O.o

Anyhoo, I have full intention to purchase a legit copy of the new
Moray the instant it comes out, 'cuz it's just that darn cool.
I think that says a great deal for a piece of software, when some-
one who uses mostly freeware and shareware (with the odd pirated
package thrown in for good measure) actually buys the thing.

...although, looking at my most-often-used programs list...
Mozilla freeware
Gravity newsreader freeware
Thumbsplus dad bought it
Notepad came with windows
Microsoft Excel 97 dad bought it
EWAN telnet client freeware
Winamp freeware
Moray shareware
WinMX freeware
Calculator came with windows
Paint Shop Pro 7 dad bought it
X-tension bought it

While technically using the stuff my dad bought is illegal
since he's using it on his computer, the stuff I use most
often is freebies. ^_^

Tim, Also look at http://amapi.idevgames.com/html/download.html for Amapi
4.1.5 which is a full functional free version.

Why use Amapi, Rhino.. what are the main Advantages over stuff like:
sPatch/Hamapatch and Pov?!

I guess.. I just LOVE Pov.. I have gotten Copies of 3dsMax (From my company)
and Lightwave.. And I use Pov for almost everything (Except certain
animations)....

What about putting the code out into the public domain under a GNU-type
license and get a world full of programmers to help you out with it, a-la
Linux. You ought to be able to retain full control over it, but get others
to help get things done. Do you make that much from the sale of seats,
anyway? Along the same lines... I'm waiting on the purchase of my own copy
of Moray until the product matures to the level that it produces the output
that I want (mostly animation-related issues remain - models can always be
imported from more capable applications and the image quality of
(POV)ray-tracing can't be beat). A wonderful job so far... I'm crossing my
fingers for 3.5!
