Can anyone tell me how to do a sky sphere in moray.
I'm just learning to use it and hope somebody can teach me how.
Please e-mail me directly.

Well maby you could create a hollow cone with a translucent "sky"
texture. Aim the camera into the cone and let the light shine through
the cones wall(s). The cone has to be big so you can put objects inside.
I welcome others to reply with better ideas PLEASE.

I've had some success with a real sphere:
Make it *very* large and hollow (and probably "no shadow") and place
everything else, even lightsources, inside.
Of course texturing is a bit tricky, and you have to be carful, that
objects don't cast shadows on the inside of the sphere or, if they do,
that the shadows are hidden from the cameras point of view.
Johannes.

To get rid of those shadows, just set the ambient to 1.0 and the diffuse to 0.0
and turn off both specular and phong shading.

Hey, nice trick! Again I learned something new. Thanks...
Johannes.

The other alternative would be to add it to the exported .pov file by
hand.
Another idea I just had but haven't tried would be to write a .inc file
with a skysphere delared in it and use the feature of Moray that allows
you to use external .inc files. This is found in the Scene/Settings
menu.
I hope that's helpful.

Nothing about it in the docs, either. However, you can do some cold-blooded
hand coding in POV itself, and save the sky sphere in an .inc file and then
in your scene settings in Moray, add that include file. It works.
BTW, you get some cool lighting effects with sky speres, using gradients
and
layers. I'm using a gradient going one way for the visible portion of the
sky, and
another partly transparent gradient going the other way. You can't see the
second
gradient except what reflects off objects in the screen.

That's exactly what I'm doing, and it works great. You can also put objects
in include files, and leave them out for test renderings to save time.
