Hi, since it's been very quiet recently, how's everybody's
animation doing? I'm afraid i'll cop-out yet again - my
animation idea (of a typical "little grey man" alien with a
tricorder-like scanner sneaking into a "sort-of-Roswell"
museum with a scanner, only to find that the things on
display, like "alien foil" and an "actual alien body" all
turn out to be tinfoil and plastics) never got beyond the
pencil-and-paper storyboard phase and a few crude meshes...
Anybody else noticed that there seems to be less and less
spare time around, or am i just getting too old for this?
Sorry, and looking forward to see the new animations next
week...
-Markus

Well I managed to cobble something together in time, though
it looks like mine is the only one submitted so far ...

I suspect that the goverment has been using UFO technology
to syphon off all our spare time and have been selling it
off quietly to aliens ... well it seems like a better
explanation than the old age thing :-)

Looks like there are only three submissions this round :-(

Ouch. There were anywhere between 9 and 14 submissions in
the last five rounds. Looks like "Imposter!" didn't really
inspire...
On the other hand, as of this writing, the FTP caption has
not been updated yet (i.e. no new topic announced) - maybe
there are a few more still waiting for approval?

I don't think so: I submitted mine just about 4 hours ahead of the
deadline, and it immediately appeared in the ftp folder :-/
The good thing about it is that there's a chance that I'm among the top
three :-)

And it's not going to take long to download all the entries in
order to vote either :-)

... and given that there often seems to be less voters than entries
the vote could be interesting ... The way the system appears to work,
with a small number of entries voting is against your interests, and
if you are the only voter you will come last !

I hope they have some panel judges for this round. If not, they may have
to cancel voting, which would be a pity!

On the other hand, we could agree to vote with 20/20/20, so we'd have
tree winners (with the best scores of all time) ;-)
But seriously, I see your point. I'm going to vote this round, and of
course I'll try to be as objetive as possible, but still: Some panel
judges would help to get a more balanced vote.
Btw, I think that they devide the accumulated score for each entry by
the number of votes for that entry, so if you were the only voter there
would be a div/0 problem.

It's tempting :-)

You're right about the algorithm for the scoring, I must have been
having a 'bad math day' when I looked at the results for the last
anim round. (It looks like from the entrants there were 5 voters
(scores divided by 5) and 5 non-voters (divided by 6) and hence one
panel judge).
I am going to vote as well, and at least with the small number of
entries it is possible to look in detail at each one, if not quite
frame by frame ...
