I can remember a time when I used to hear a new tune on the radio, and 
actually be excited about it because it sounded neat. [*cough* On the 
other hand, that was usually because it was 2 Unlimited...]

These days, I don't even bother listening to the radio.

Yeah, pretty much. There was a station that played a lot of 80's music. 
Supposedly they're the same format now, but all they do is play crap all 
the time, now. Not worth listening to, now.

I also don't watch TV any more.

I swear there used to be *interesting* programs. Stuff like Rough 
Science, Scrapheap Challange, Local Heroes, Discovery, Horizon, Wildlife 
on One, etc. Now all there seems to be is "reality" shows. (Uh, 12 
people locked in a room for 6 weeks? What's "real" about that??)

I still do. Mostly things like How its Made, HowStuffWorks, and the 
like. I also watch House (the grumpy doctor is funny), it isn't all 
reality shows.

My dad likes House. Personally, I find him annoying.

QI is sometimes quite interesting. However, it's on ridiculously late at 
night for some reason.

I've yet to find anything else really interesting to watch. Hell, even 
the great David Attenborough seems to produce films that are more 
political activism rather than science now...

I catch some of the new stuff and admittedly at times it can seem quite  
good or catchy; perhaps what I meant to say in a less tongue in cheek  
voice was that nothing that's come out after 1990 is memorable for me  
(unless cover/produced...) I just don't find myself humming anything  
recent. IDK so much seems to have been tailored and tweaked to such a  
gleaming 'perfection' it doesn't seem like music to me. Closest I've got  
is the catch in Beyonce's Crazy in Love and I swear I've heard that before  
a long time ago.

Oh side-track one of the things about getting stuck in stupid queues is  
realising that of the 7 minute long Hey Jude the last 4 minutes of it is  
just Na na na's :-)

I'm told by people in the business it's because you're more likely to watch 
those advertisements. You see a sit-com, you're going to TiVo it and skip 
the commercials and watch it tomorrow. You see a reality show, you're going 
to want to gossip the next day about what happened with co-workers, so 
you'll put up with the advertisements.  How true or not this is I can only 
judge based on my opinions of the people who told me this.

Actually, my dad listens to more new stuff than I do. o_O

Her first album was really quite fun. Arguably a little samey, but 
enjoyable to listen to. Her second is... depressing. Every single song 
is a sad song. I don't know why she changed direction...

Imagine a high-wattage baseline, thunderous drum loops, and a snarling 
synth lead. That's basically the template to every track they've ever 
produced.

Their first album was alright, but most of the tunes are fairly "thin". 
(As in, there's not much to them.) Their new album is much better. I'm 
currently kinda addicted...
