Yeah, but LCD monitors usually only go up to 1024x768, or maybe
1280x1024 if it's expensive.

It looked impressively sharp though. CRT has the advantage that it works
properly at *every* resolution, but I think LCD has now reached the
point where it actually looks sharper. I'm thinking about getting myself
an LCD at some point. However... having just spent a whole heap of
money, I guess it won't be any time soon...! o_O

All decent 24" Wide-LCD's have native resolution of 1920x1200 (which,
with 60Hz refresh rate, has lower pixel clock than 1600x1200@85hz).
Heck, even all decent 22" Wide-LCD's have native resolution of 1680x1050.

Personally, I'd miss 4:3 -monitor if I was forced out of CRT on my
desktop. LCD's, especially wide ones, take an incredible amount of
desk-space with proper resolutions, when 19" CRT can take 1600x1200 easily.

Check the panel type and don't get TN ;).

I'll remember that if you ever post how much Wii Sports is tiring you out

Okay taking Warp's view into account I'd be the first to agree that the
mouse is a better aiming mechanism for FPS games and it's really annoying
that despite the fact the PS3 supports both USB mice and keyboards very
few (as in only one) games seems to support them.

As for usability sure if you're trying to do a long range snipe of
someone's head tweaking the sticks is annoying, likewise 180 degree
rotations, but for the most part you do get used to the sticks.

How about a 32"? Of course it should be hooked up to the main television
so everyone can join in.

That does make me laugh - look at all the detail my 1080p screen picks up,
oh but you have to sit further away from it.

Yep must have tied themselves to Microsoft :-P

Hmm I recall "Run Abe Run" a flick screen and a wall you have to clamber
up with a squig following you.

My hands can't withstand the G-forces. o_O

I'd imagine for spinning round on the spot, the sticks are probably
easier. (I constantly run out of desk space. Do you have ANY IDEA how
much stuff is in my bedroom?) But playing CoD4 it was just impossible to
hit anything. :-S

In the PC version, the game starts, and you casually walk around until
the first ledge. As soon as you haul yourself up it, a Slig rushes in.
But by then you're out of the way. So unless you climb back down again,
you're really in no danger. (The Slig, however, is liable to get
possessed and blown up. Muhuhuhuh!)

No, so much so that some games have a dedicated 180-turn button though 90°
movement can be quite quick. As I say it's the fiddly stuff that you wish
you had a mouse for. I might go so far to say that you shouldn't play
console FPS games the same way you play PC FPS games. Rather then jump out
of hiding and sweep your sights over the enemy bam bam; you need to adjust
to the fact that you're not quite as nimble and thus slow down a bit.

I can well imagine it being taken up by large amounts of musical equipment.

Ah yes just for fun here's a comparision video of CoD4 on PS3 and 360 -
http://www.gametrailers.com/player/27571.html oh and because you probably
haven't seen it http://www.gametrailers.com/player/38636.html currently a
PS3 exclusive.

Hmm I'm sure I got shot there.
