The one you are webring master of was the original (to use a word) I knew
about which was given up by someone (sorry, I follow names like a amnesia
victim) who then moved it to the "official"-like site of webring.povray.org
without carrying the members over as well. That's pretty much what I was
trying to say. I had always thought the person running that one at Yahoo!
before it was at Yahoo! is the person at webring.povray.org now. Sorry if
I'm mistaken.

Far as official goes... seems difficult to not say the one at povray.org is
it. Hope this doesn't create some webring war. I'm joined to both those
anyway and the Yahoo! one was first. Basically all a matter of what the
rulers of www.povray.org say so that leaves me out. :-)

You chose to host the ring home page...

Anyway, you can customize the NavBar very much, so at least you can be sure
that it won't wreck your web design... ;)

That's correct. Only the word "move" is misleading since he didn't move
anything but created a new ring from scratch.

Who cares what's official? It's not an advantage, nor a disadvantage, it's
just a meaningless label. Age of ring, number of members and customizability
of the NavBar are better measurements if you ask me.

Ok, so I'm biased...

Heh-heh-heh. No need to convince me. I just have to convince myself to
work on my web page so I can try your new graphics.

But the thing i dislike about the Yahoo Webring is that i have to sign in
with giving a lot of quite personal information they can use for their own
purposes just as they like. Since you as the Ringmaster have no interest
in this information but NTL have all the work with the Webring i judge
this quite negative.

I didn't want start holy war. The reason why I asked about officiality was
preaty easy. If I understand correctly there are two sides of rings and ring
masters are somewhere middle.
On one side is author of webpage. Most of us are rather busy with private life,
proffesion, studying, poving, etc. When somebody create webpage there could be
as less as posible steps of advertising it. He must jump to two rings, register,
customize code on page and increase size of page. On the otherside is surfer.
When he look at something he must look into two rings. For some pages (included
in both rings) he must download doubled size of code, more images etc. I just
think it is wasting. I just think it is interest for both to have one well
working ring. I just think that if anybody want share his power, activity and
creativity, he should try join to working people. Did you tried this ? Although
your ring seems more 'official' to me even if isn't in povray.org - mainly
becouse of using logo from contest you hosted. I think it should be good idea of
connecting your (povray.co.uk & company) activity with current povray.org web
team. Also I think it could be good idea of adding something like
povray.webpages group. I hope my English was enough.

Regards, ten days of rest with family before me.

Who's gonna find out if your information is not 100% correct?

I don't take such forms very seriously. I think it's a small prize to pay.

He must not. He can if he wants to.

I get your point, but unfortunately it's not possible.

I have nothing to do with povray.co.uk except that my site is hosted there.
I think you're not talking with the right person.

Well, I'm not sure what you're talking about anymore. It started out with
being about the webrings, but then I lost track...

Thanks for the feedback anyway.
