And Command-Shift-Tab to back up. And you can change the key
combination, this is just the default.
Still, I don't usually set windows to use the full size of my monitor,
since I often am working in multiple windows. I will often have more
than 5 windows open in Netscape, as well as Eudora(an e-mail program)
and MT-NewsWatcher(my newsreader), and one or more versions of
POV/Alpha/CodeWarrior/miscellaneous other programs. I tend to use the
"Hide application" option a lot. :-)

The only thing I don't like is the poser girl. She seems very out of
place on the page.

Maybe if she were rendered with a marble texture, she wouldn't be so
controversial. ;-)

She would then be a stature and would have no need for any clothes
whatsoever <bg>.

Wouldn't that violate some existing statuary statutes ?

Don't they have a TAG-Team? Can't they make a special team for the website
design and maintenance? I'm sure lots of people here would devote their time
to helping. I know I would. I have Photoshop. I can be of great assistance,
with this powerful tool.

In five words: I think it is _horrible_. I would just dump that design
altogether, and start from scratch. I hate the little menus (@1280x1024),
and the beveled buttons. That sucks. I would go with something like they
have on tag.povray.org, only darker. I think a text interface is much
better, with CSS and some JS like on http://tolkien.sweeetnet.com (menu on
the left). I like that. Or, they could make it a 3D interface, like on
http://www.softimage.com. That's a nice look, IMHO.

Also, the girl is totally out of place. Although she certainly shows off the
fact that POV can handle meshes, she just doesn't fit in. I would put her in
a complete scene, to show the use of the model, and display it in a nice 3D
situation, with nice lighting, like in Gilles' scenes.

Don't you agree?

The Comic Sans over-use is not only due to it being a default style-sheet
font. No, it's bundled with every copy of every damn version of Windows, and
has been for ages. (I fnot bundled, then very often installed by "default"
MS-products and also free download from MS.com). Besides Times and Arial,
this is one of the very few fonts regular people have to choose from, and
when they want something "informal" and "funny-looking" they choose Comic
Sans. As you see, it's used in the menu; not in the site itself, and IMO
another [free] font would look much better without distorting the rest of
whatever design philosophy the designer might have.

I don't see the problem with the brown colors themselves, except that it's
almost obvious that they were chosen to accompany the 1e6 yrs
BC-look-alike-gall1. I guess it boils down to personal taste here. (Not the
case with Comic Sans, though. Okay, it might, but then it's not _good_
taste.)

Regards,
Simen Kvaal.

Yup. Imagine your eight year old son surfing along, while their parents look
behind their back. Kids don't mind, that's for sure, but parents really can
be picky. People are different, like it or not. (Me myself have no problem
with it, except that it makes the look of the site silly.)

Why wouldn't anyone be interested in Povray? Is there some rule to tell who
likes Povray?

>Why isn't it good enough? Do we want to say "if you want to make any type
>of image with POV, you've got to read the manual from cover to cover and

I don't really think that _any_ image not entirely created within Povray
should be banned to promote it. I thought so at first, but you have a point
here. But then again, this image doesn't show off any particulary
interesting fact about Povray; rather more about the modeller used here.
(Poser?) I think one would be better off showing off some _features_.

I ditn't! I just said it was ugly! Please don't put several words at the
same time in my mouth. It ain't that big!

I wouldn't say that looks quite realistic or organic. It looks more like
a robot.

: Personally I find a Poser-produced collection of dxf's more 'offensive' than an

  Poser, spatch... whatever.
