Now correct me if I am wrong here...

It has always been my impression that p.b.i. was for the posting of images
so that they may be reviewed by ones peers. This gives you opportunity to
improve your work by way of suggestions. If p.b.i. becomes a group for the
sole purpose of showcasing ones best images the same purpose could be served
by posting said images on a personal web page leaving even more space on
this server for other things.

I second this. What the use of commenting images if they're to be considered
final versions that doesn't change any more?
(I will -- however -- go through my post and delete the worst images.)

Well, again, this is not intended to discard any images that -are- worth
keeping, but rather to prevent it. The p.b.i. group is filling up the server
and there was discussion about deleting some of the images. Rather than have
this be done purely by date of posting, I suggest creating a second
binary.images group where people might post images that they feel do -not-
have permanent value. Again, if there turns out to be public interest,
either re-post it to the main group, or post the text.scene-file.

With an expiration date of several months or a year, and people like
Peter who archive all posts, I don't see things getting lost beyond recall
as long as there is any enduring value to them.

That is why I made this suggestion. I don't want things to get lost. But
it seems that some things -will- be lost at some point, we just have to
decide whether we want to -choose- what gets lost, or leave that up to the
ticking of the clock.

For the record the entire contents of the server was just restored within
the last hour. How long this will last I do not know yet but we must assume
for the time being that the clock is still ticking.........

(The only groups affected by this are the binaries groups. The text groups
were never set to expire. To retrieve older messages in the binaries groups
you may have to reset the groups in your news reading program.)

As soon as I find out more Chris, Alan, or I will let everyone know the
details.

True, but some questions are inherently somewhat time-limited, such as MegaPOV
bug reports.

True, but these types of messages comprise much less than 1% of the total
message contents for that group and the impact of removing them would
hardly be noticed.

Mmm, this gives me an idea, maybe usefull maybe not.
How about a temporary newsgoup for bugreports during the beta period of
3.5?

Hello!

In my search for info about Bezier curves, patches and splines
I stumbled over the web-pages starting at this address:

http://graphics.cs.ucdavis.edu/GraphicsNotes/Graphics-Notes.html

I found them very informative and thought that maybe some of you
might be interested.

I also hereby take the opportunity to announce my POV-Ray gallery at the
address at the bottom of this post. I'm open for critique, so please comment.

Best regards

I added a bookmark to that page a few weeks ago because I too found
it a valuable resource.

As the Linkmaster for the POV-Team I find objects like what you present on
your page a valuable learning tool for other POV-Ray users. I would like
to suggest that you place the source for some of your objects on your
web page. If you do I will link to your site from povray.org which will
increase traffic to your web page and at the same time you will be helping
out other POV-Ray users.

If you do add the object source to your page send me an e-mail and I will
be glad to add your site to the links pages at povray.org. I am not accepting
sites that are just image galleries at this time.
