To Whom May Be Concerned,
I Love my official vers.. But there seems to be one problem i don't like
( rather i am jealous of Mega patch users ) My media is not as pretty as
it could be...
I Will Post Two images in pov.bin.images as example of what i mean..
The declarations {method_3,aa_levels, & aa_threshold} really seem to
fine tune the media... the Mega image is so much pretty in my view, and
well...
Will the Official vers. Incorporate this feature(s)... More of a
rhetorical question.. just hoping for implementation in future
updates... please.. pretty please w/ icing in top... and a
cherry....?..?..?.

Hi Ryan,
First let me say these are my opinions. I'm just a regular
Pov user, like yourself, maybe a little older. I've noticed
in some of your posts in p.b.i your concern with this issue.
My first thought is to want to say: Relax, it will work out.
Any version of Pov you use will give you new insite and experience.
I have been using Povray for Windows since it was first released
and I was lucky enough to stumble across it. It truly is a
wonderful and magnificent program. We all have many people to
thank for it's existence.
Over the years there have been a number of patched versions released.
Some for fairly specific things and others which were very
ambitious. I tried out all of them, if there was a executable supplied.
Some did things that I really wanted to use all the time and others
which I used in specific images created to exploit whatever feature
they had.
But, I always went back to the official version.
Now with MegaPov I find myself using it (MegaPov) for everything.
Nathan has done an incredible job in releasing this.
You can tell from the documentation and web site that this
is a serious endeavor. But, most importantly you can tell
from MegaPov itself. As I said I have been using MegaPov
(Version 0.3) since it's release and have had no problems
whatsoever.
Of course it is a personal decision. I looked at your examples
and can see your frustration. Last night I was rendering some
smoke and until I put in method 2 I wasn't happy. For me there
is no turning back.
As to what will be in the next Official Version I have learned
that patience is the most important thing to develop.
Just know that these incredibly talented and giving people
are out there doing their work. I try not to expect too much,
that way I am pleasantly surprised.
And again, Mega or Official, it's all Pov to me!
Hope this helps, I'm back to my smoke and ice.

As far as I know, megapov is a kind of "POV-Ray 3.5 test version".
So yes, those features will most likely to be included in the next
official version of povray.

Ok i will try to be patient... Cant hurt To put my two cents in anyhow...
Yes i do like the Mega vers. and its features I downloaded it when i was
informed of the mac vers immediately, but,,, something about the interface
just does not sit well w/ me i much prefer the clean cut 2 window (3 w/
preview) interface of the official... not to mention some other features i
am just quite use to by now...
Thank you for the concern...

You don't like the preferences window? Hmm.
The one thing I have a problem with is the fact that it doesn't save
preferences in the scene file, like the official version does. Other
than that, I like the editor, although I rarely use the new templates
for simple things.
Maybe I will compile a version with the official GUI. And move my patch
work to MegaPOV. Like I have been planning to. :-)
Oh, well. Off to download the latest source...

Absolutely. I had some of the same questions myself.

Oh, you use the Mac version. When I first saw some of
it's features on a web site I was very impressed. Quite
cool.

Yes I love it, some of the features i am just not willing to let go, one
most used is the partial render box where i can randomly place a box
around the partial i want to render randomly instead of the partial
image coordinates...
B.T.W... I am planing a "Two Scents" Scene w/ two flipped pennies but...
Well Lincoln and his memorial are posing some problems.. Any
suggestions...?
I looked on the web w/ no luck in finding a suitable pict. of both sided
of a penny..

We don't quite understand what you mean here. Could you explain a bit
more?
