Can you imagine the tux rental fees???

Actually, the reason I'm writing the Moviloa AVI editing program is because
I've scripted/storyboarded a 10 minute POV-made SCI Fi movie and couldn't
find a tool to do the editing with. As far as "feature length" goes, I was
actually just kidding, but... hmmmm.. maybe there's something worth
thinking about there.

Just a followup ...
we've had a number of good responses and it appears that at this stage,
POVRAY.ORG will not only survive, but get better ! there is no guarantees but
it's on the cards that it will move to another location with gobs of disk space
and a connection at least as good as the one we've got now.

We'll all be keeping our fingers crossed that this comes to pass.
In the meantime, thanks again for a great program....from all the
five-year-olds in all of us!

Hey Gary:
Two words - Toy Story. I am serious - if a story could be picked and properly
story boarded... distribute the tasks of modeling etc. Then get EVERYONE to
render portions.....Hey it is no more crazy than the following thought:
Hey lets make this great ray tracer, you know - one that has a better engine
than programs that cost thousands of dollars. A whole bunch of programers can
work on it and heck - lets give it away for free!
Sounds kinda crazy - don't it?

Sounds like a damn good idea to me! I mean the idea of making a film.
Not necessarily the 'free giveaway' idea. I thought the object was to
keep the povray.org site going.
Anyone got a hot contact in Hollywood?

Excellent, though I'm hoping a client of mine (a marketing company)
may respond to my e-mail sent earlier today with interest.
In the meantime I still like the idea of a POv-Ray film (i've been
working on little animations myself). How about a bunch of POV users
doing something even if it's not needed to keep the web site up?
Cheers,

Hmmm I've been doing a little AVI editing myself (real simple stuff -
actually most recently a title sequence for an amateur video based on
an old British SF show called "Doctor Who"). What kind of features you
planning to have - and how do i get to find out when it's imminent?
Meanwhile I seem to recall that M$ have (or had) their videdit program
on the net for all to download - and I've checked my logs and found
the following address for it:
ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/developr/drg/Multimedia/Jumpstart/VfW11e/DK/WINVIDEO/
Since I've not checked it lately I can't promise it will still be
there, but so long as you can download all the bits you'll be in a
position to make and/or edit AVI's although editing is pretty much
down to putting a frame in or taking it out, synchronising the frame
speed and placing sound etc. (no pretty fades or suchlike).
Cheers,
Cliff Bowman
