It has been a while since I visited Cathy and friends, so I decided to
have a stop at the dystopia to see how they fared. I was not disappointed.
Here is a first wip of the environment. The basic idea came from a
painting, the painter of which I have forgotten the name. The octagonal
basins and the back wall are inspired from that.
The plumbing are made with the help of the macros by Glenn McCarter, he
used in an IRTC image back in 2003.
To remedy the 'falling building' syndrome, I used the FieldCam() macro
by Doctor John, for which my well-meant thanks :-)
Ambient lighting comes from a HDRI map, supplemented by a single CIE
light source.
As said in the title, Gravity has nothing at all in common with the film
of the same name. Here, gravity is what you may feel (like me) when
standing on top of a high building or a the brink of a deep well. Not a
particularly pleasant sensation of the Earth's attraction... ;-)

Looks intriguing. I await further development with interest.

You're welcome. Strangely enough, I was talking about the macro with a
friend a couple of days ago. That and a few other pieces of information
have persuaded him to come back to Povray after many years absence (I
believe the last version he used was v3.0 - possibly earlier).
BTW Stephen, if you're reading this, your name also came up in
connection with SAP. Small world.

And incestuous too. I'm working with a guy whom I last worked with six
years ago. And before that for ten years on an oil rig. We were both
doing different jobs, of course.

Absolutely not :-D It was mentioned along with such luminaries as Andrew
Wiles, Roger Penrose and Christopher Wickham - and my father <glows red
with embarrassment>

That is as it should be.

Well, since I drink at the White Hart. I expect that sort of thing.
I have a few tales from there.
Not long after I started working in "Computing". I met a consultant
whose company had just won a contract in Tibet at an out of the way
monastery. The job had something to do with cataloguing something or
other. He said that it would take along time. I wonder how it is going?

For now, this will be the final render. Some minor changes are still
possible but those need more study.
In the Great Scheme of Things, this is Cathy's World #12.

Looks a lot better now with the people in the foreground, bridge and large
cylinder/tank added. I think where the pipes go into the pool needs some kind of
change as it looks like they just disappear, either a hole slightly larger than
the cylinder or some kind of surround where they enter it would probably look
better.

It is a big good job you have made here, I just have one critic
concerning the granite which seems ( but is is a personal opinion) too
smooth.
I like the people and the cat - can we have a close-up of the cat?
Lionel.

Thanks. Indeed, I forgot about the pipes :-( I wanted to make the hole
slightly larger as you suggest and forgot about it.

Thanks indeed. The stone texture is one of those things I want to change
in the (near?) future.
The cat is Poser (of course). Like some Poser figures, it is not really
good at close up and it misses - in particular - a good normal map, and
its eyeball map is somewhat weird. Other figures which are more than
basic are Kate2 and Ben2 (the children here) which have hardly been
developed further than their Poser 6 versions. Not only are the skin
maps basic, also their geometry shows a number of severe defects. A
shame for such a program imho.
