Well, not quite, but a close second. Ever since I dumped windows off my
hard drive and switched over to linux, I've been free of windows
software. But I've regligously installed every version of Wine that's
come along just to see if I could get sPatch up and running. Several
versions back I got my hopes up when it didn't crash immediately, but
actually opened a window. But none of the rendering (wire-frame or
shaded) worked.
I just installed the latest version of wine today, and was pleasantly
surprised to find not only wireframe fimally working, but the shaded
rendering as well. I didn't have any luck with the openGL support, but
sPatch's internal renderer worked great.
I'm running wine version 20000716. I didn't use any special options or
anything, just ran "wine spatch.exe", and after grumbling around with a
bunch of warnings about fonts, up came sPatch :)
Don't know if anyone else is as excited as I am, but just thought I'd
let y'all know.
Ken
P.S. I looked around on the web, and was unable to find a working
sPatch home page. I still have the zip file saved, but would be
interested to know if anyone has a current URL.

It appears that Mike pulled the page permanately. I do have an
alternate download site listed but there is no information content
there -
http://www.geocities.com/pjpii_2000/index.html
P.S. What happened to your keyframe animation utility page ? :)

Funny you should mention that. I used to do all my hosting with a free
account I had with an ISP I used to work for, but they finally killed
that. Since then, I've never gotten around to setting up a new page.
That, and I have no way to support that program (well, borland builder
sort of hobbles along in wine, but it's not really usable). If you
think anyone's interested, I can put it back up again somewhere.

One slight addendum to this, doesn't look like it is able to find the
export filters. So that does put a damper on the usability, but it's
getting closer :)

That's exactly what I had happen with older versions of wine. This one
renders though :) Now we just need to get those export filters
working...

I was asking out of curiosity sake more than anything else. When your
site went off line I put a link up at povray.org saying that people
could e-mail me if they were interested in a copy of the program and
I doubt I got more than 3 replies in a years time. I finally dropped
that link about 5 months ago. I think with POV-Ray's current scripting
abilities you can do just about everything that keymorph could do and
more. An application who's time is past perhaps...

This is starting to drift off topic, but on the subject of builder, I
ran across something called vdkbuilder which looks pretty promising.
Haven't played with it too much, but it provides some similary RAD
functionality based on the GTK widgets.
