After some rather silent times with actual POVing - as I've been coding like mad
for the last weeks and even months - I'm happy to announce that the demo version
of my first game is finally released!
Info and download link are available at my slightly renewed developer blog at:
https://alienroosterhead.com/
For now, only Win version is available. Linux export will come later, and
possibly also Mac depending on how the Godot team manages to fix the Mac export
issues of the moment.
Everyone into sci-fi, old school style game mechanics and/or obscure
storytelling feel free to check it out! :)
PS. The gfx are intentionally minimal on the v1.0 part of the lore, as
originally this whole thing was not supposed to become as big a thing as it
later on turned out. The sequels will have more stuff on the visual side, no
worries. :D All renderings are naturally POV.
Cheers! \o/

Nice!
Send some of that coding energy my way.... :D
I'll shift on over to the windows machine and download it there. I look
forward to seeing what you've been up to since the last time you checked in.
:)
I was watching a Like A Storm video the other day, and Chris Brooks' hair
reminded me of your stylized rooster head :D

Currently stuck on how to slice something in inventory.
Does it have to be restarted, or something moved, or something put somewhere
else...?

Worked past it. One must supervise a 10 yo closely....
We'll see how the rest of it goes once he gets back to it. ;)

Hehe, there's a small hint hidden in the 2nd level: if you "look rooster", the
narrative gives the word "refill" (in capitals to grab attention), then if you
"use library" and enter "refill" there, you'll get instructions for the drink.
:)
Furthermore, when logged to the library, try entering "rooster", "egg" or
"chicken". :D
Also, try "look games", "look movies" and "look music" several times, it'll give
several different suggestions. :D
=====
A small update on the actual game development, I just managed to build a working
save game functionality. :) Will be featured in the full version then.

Oh, we got that far and farther - it's just that adding before slicing kinda
locked out retrying, and the level had to be restarted even though the item was
still in inventory.

Will do.

Variety. Nice :)
Is an alien space game next?

Ah, okies. :) Also good to know if there's some odd behaviour occurring. I just
tried myself if mixing the drink bugs in any way. I couldn't re-produce anything
weird yet, but ofc I'll re-check the code and investigate more. Thanks for the
heads-up!

I've planned to continue and finish "The Sunreal Project" after the first
"Roosters!" title. All graphics are almost done, just a couple of renders more,
the script for the plot is ready, and what it comes to actual coding, the game
will be simpler to construct than the rooster one. A deep space / alien worlds
text adventure with POV-rendered still-images coming up then! :)
