Got to thinking aboiut the old digital stomping grounds lately. Decided
to poke my head in. Hey! POV-Ray still exists, you guys still exist, and
... I still exist!

Yay! \o/

Sooo... what have I been up to? Work, and more work... Umm, Minecraft.
Uhh.. Hmm.... Yep, that's about it.

Oh.. yeah, Much ado about keyboards. I bit the bullet and bought a fully
mechanical keyboard. One of the oldschool types. I really like it. Nice
and clackity, types beautifully,

The only thing I don't like is the position if the \ key. (Usually on a
U.S. layout it's above the enter key, or next to the backspace. On this
one it's in the old position: next to the / key, just to the left of the
right-hand shift key. Switching from my work computer to home computer
now has me hunting for \ at times.

But the clackity-ness of it, and the fact that the keybaord is a beast,
I mean, it's heavy enough that it just sort of stays put, but it's also
incredibly sturdy.

So yeah, acquiring keyboards, playing Minecraft, among other things. And
.. hmm, it's early and I'm tired. First time all day I haven't felt sick.

My boy is 7 now. Nope Haven't taught him POV yet. That'll come... one of
these days. He wants to write Java code when he gets older. lol.

So, yeah, my life story at the moment. XD

Wow, that was really... random.

Good to hear things are going well - where'd you find the oldschool
keyboard, and what type of connector is on it?

Fry's. It's actually a new gaming keyboard. Made by ThermalTake. It has
a USB connector, just like any keyboard aught to. Just about any
keyboard with Cherry black switches should have about the same feel, not
sure about the physical heft, though.

I thought I'd hate the illumination, but it turns out I kind of like it.

Nice - only problem is that with it being a USB device, I can't use it
with my KVM (PS/2 connectors only - the USB-to-PS2 adapters don't seem to
work with it).

I had a KVM switch once. You know how occasionally a PSU lets go for no
apparent reason? Yeah, well, my KVM used to make a little beep when you
switch channels. And then one day my PC malfunctioned, and the KVM let
out this deafening scream, and everybody in the office is looking at me
as I'm desperately ripping cables out left and right to try to make this
ear-splitting noise STFU!

Man, that was a fun day... After I pulled the power cord out of my PC,
it never worked again. Nor did the KVM. Good thing my employer paid for
a new one...

If you're talking about those things that come with /some/ keyboards,
that's not much of a surprise. After all, they're not really true
USB-to-PS2 adapters, but rather just USB-A sockets wired to Mini-DIN
plugs, to be used with dual-mode USB/PS2 keyboards that have both their
USB and PS2 port wired to a single USB-A plug - which, obviously, is a
hackish solution anyway.

Yeah, that's kinda what I figured.

I think mine also has a noisemaker in it, but I've disabled it. :)
