Heh. We're like Faye and Dora, except instead of sassing coffee shop
customers, we do synchronised bitching against The Establishment! ;-)

Screw that! Visit Switzerland and see a public transport system which is
unspectacular and yet always seems to "just work", quietly in the
background...

Mentioned this journey to someone last night and they said "Why are you
trying to go through Birmingham when you can use Worcester" and yes I can
go Kiddy to Worcester and then back through Kiddy to get to Birmingham
although this time it's Moor Street not Snow Hill and I can get back at
just past midnight and wait until nine hours for a train back home.
Trouble is I'm still not trusting my car enough to even get me to Brum.
Oo ar oo ar we be in the sticks here and get up with the chickens and go
to sleep with the cows why would we be wanting transport past 22:00?

Have you had decades of a Conservative government trying to get everyone
to use private cars too?
Seriously though we're supposed to be a major power, built on industry and
helping lead the world in a greener way; and the only feasible method to
travel the country at night is by private transport. I've got it, it's a
conspiracy by the hoteliers to make people stay the night :-)

If it makes it more worthwhile, we could meet earlier (at least I
could). I don't think I trust myself to pub food so I will eat before
meeting and will probably be round that area from about 4 pm.
I know what you mean about the travelling on public transport. I've
just been travelling in the Holland/Belgium area on a Sunday service.
It can be done but is it worth it, maybe not :)

Are there not buses from Bham to Stourbridge? Or are you too far out in
the cun'ryside? Mind you even if there were buses most of them seem to
stop running just after 11 from the city end of the routes. Madness;
many of them run till 1am inbound - surely it's more useful to have them
run late from the centre?

If it was 100% me being there I'd be tempted, but other stuff is still on
so I'm not going to suggest a big alteration of everyone's time just on
the off-chance I'll make it; next time a different schedule perhaps.
On the good news friends were right there is a train from Worcester to
London it just doesn't reach as far as Kiddy heh. The last train out of
Paddington leaves at ~21:55 (next one at 08:40 so not something I'd want
to miss) driving/taxi in and out of Worcester is sooo much easier then
bloody Brum.

The daft thing is that this is a shopping thing I do every so often (much
easier when I had a direct train to New Hill), just it's a
morning/afternoon thing so I've never looked past closing time; nice to
find out about the Worcester trains though, just inertia kept me going
through Brum after I lost the direct route.
