Dear discussion group,
I am new to this forum and using POVRay.
I am having trouble rendering images in POVRay 3.6.
I save the image in Swiss PDB Viewr 3.7 as Pov-Ray3 Scene
and open in PovRay 3.6. When I try to render the image under the render
menu, the "Start render" or "Start render queue" are not in "black" letters
and I cannot select them.
I don't know if I am missing something in the program or another program.
I read that the PovRay 3.6 for OS requires CarbonLib 1.6 which I couldn't
find
to download. However, I am running OS X 10.35 Panther so I'm not sure I need
CarbonLib.
Can someone give me a hand with this problem?
Thanks a lot.
Mark

Your files do not have a ".pov" extension and you enabled "Allow rendering
of '.pov' files only". Either you add a ".pov" extension or you go to the
Preferences dialog Files pane and disable the option.

Thank you. That was straigtforward.
I disabled the file extesion option and now in the render menu it gives me
the option to render "file name".
However, there is another problem I am having now.
When I render the file I saved from Swiss PDB View 3.7 as Pov-Ray3 Scene
i.e. the ".int" file or the other one (because it saves as two files -
one with the ".int" extension and one withou any extension) I get the
following errors.
When I render the file with no extension I get
Possible Parse Error: Could not find file 'colors.inc'
File Tiam1 line 13
Parse Error: Cannot open include file colors.inc.
File Tiam1 line 13
Parse Warning: Check that the file is in a directory specifed with a +L
switch or 'Library_Path=' .INI item. Standard include files are in the
include directory or folder. Please read your documentation carefully.
File Tiam1 line 13
When I render the file with the ".int" extension I get
Parse Error: No matching } in 'finish', undeclared identifier
'RIBBON_FINISH' found instead File Tiam1.inc line 13
Any suggestons?
Thank you,
Mark

For some reason the standard include folder is not set. In the same dialog
as before, but in the Scenes pane you will need to add the standard include
folder to the Global Include Paths. Also see the "Global Include Paths"
section in the "POV-Ray for Mac OS" part of the documentation.

Thanks again.
I added the "inlcude folder" so I am not getting the "include" error any
more.
Sorry to be a bother again but now I am getting another error
Possible Parse Error: Could not find file
'/Users/markbaum/Desktop/Tiam1.inc'
File Tiam1 line 280
Parse Error: Cannot open include file /Users/markbaum/Desktop/Tiam1.inc.
File Tiam1 line 280
Parse Warning: Check that the file is in a directory specifed with a +L
switch or 'Library_Path='
..INI item. Standard include files are in the include directory or folder.
Please read your
documentation carefully.
File Tiam1 line 280
Also I noticed that my Scene pane didn't have any other folders when I added
the
include folder. Should it have the Scene folder also?

This is not a valid Mac path. In a valid Mac path folders are separated by
colons ':'. Anyway, to avoid such problems you should not have absolute
path specifications in your scenes.

You need to correct the path in your scene. Either by removing the path and
only leaving the filename or by correcting the path. If this POV-Ray scene
file was written by another program (you mentioned Swiss PDB Viewer) and
that program is a Mac program outputting POV-Ray scene files, you should
also report the incorrect path as a bug to the author of that program.
