For an animation that I want to make I need POV-code for humans.

Specifically:
- A pilot sitting in a 747 cockpit
- A man in "suit and tie" sitting in a comfortable chair
- Some men and women wearing business type clothing

If you have any of these, or somthing alike please let me use it.

The wrong group for this request, IMHO.

Do the figures need to be animated?

I doubt anyone has anything this specific. However, two suggestions.
Depending on the degree of realism you need, you could try either Blobman
(http://members.nbci.com/_XOOM/HoustonGraph/POV-Ray/index.htm)
or track down a copy of Poser3 on a cover CD as it is now being freely
distributed by that means (by freely, I mean that it is not a
save-restricted version or anything, I am not sure what the specific licence
is).

If your figures need animating, and if close-up detail isn't crucial, I
would recommend blobman. For poser figures, you are going to have a major
exporting and conversion job on your hands.

If you can't find it, and if your bandwidth is up to it, you can download
the PC version from:
http://www.tomandlu.co.uk/poser3/ - you will need poser3_pc.zip and
serial_number.txt

Also, check Gilles Tran's site for an excellent tutorial on converting from
Poser to POV.
http://www.oyonale.com/ressources/english/tutuv.htm

Also on Gilles' site is a listing and brief descriptions of resources for
figures (incl. Poser and Blobman)

I couldn't help but comment about this - I have been seeing quite a bit of
excellent software bundled with magazines these days - but I think the
license is "You must buy the magazine to use the software." The magazine
editors must make a deal with the software companies and the magazine pays
an amount to the company and they allow, more often than not, an obsolete
version of the software to be on the magazine CD coverdisk.

I think this is a great idea, I have got full versions of the following
software off the front of magazines: (I use Windoze)

Truespace 1.0 (You can download this off the net at http://pcplus.co.uk )
Truespace 3 S/E (notice the S/E - it is a crippled version but still
interesting for animation. Inverse Kinematics and physical simulations)
Amapi 3D V4.1 (I found the interface frustrating - almost as frustrating as
Blender hehehe)
Borland Delphi Standard V3.0 (I like Pascal!)
Borland C++ Builder V?? (C++ makes me crosseyed!)

Now I'm downloading Poser 3 from your link - I might be breaking the law!
What was the name of the magazine, and the issue number so I can buy a copy?

Just so I can sleep at night......

What's life without a little moral dilemma? Needless to say, I would not
encourage anyone to download this copy of poser for anything other than
hobby-use (btw, there is a patch avail. for poser 3 at
http://www.curiouslabs.com/downloads/index.html - I'm not sure what it does,
but it certainly doesn't do any harm).

I'm not sure that mags do pay for the apps on cover disks - I thought that
it was the software co. keen to encourage use of the app. in order to
increase sales of latest versions - hence my personal lack of moral qualms.
But I could be wrong. Certainly I would not post software that had not been
offered for free at some point.

I'm fairly sure that the mag was 3dworld (www.3dworldmag.com), but I'll
double check tonight and let you know if different.

Confirmed - issue 5 of 3dworld. Subscriptions avail. at above link, but no

Thanks for the info Tom!

I've sent an email inquiring about back issues but have heard nothing yet.

Americans will be pleased to know that I found 3Dworld *on the shelf*, with
cover CD included, at Barnes and Noble booksellers! Cost: a very reasonable
US$13.95
