Aside from the dodgy lines, the snow is incredibly realistic!

Thanks to everyone for the great comments, I think 90% of the credit for the
snow really needs to go to the pov team though as it is all down to the SSLT
feature.

Well worth the three days indeed! The snow looks incredibly real when
melting. As always, your textures are nearing perfection. The algal
growth on the stones is very realistic indeed.
I think that I have seen that door before ;-)

Agree, the snow itself aside from the grid lines looks really good as
well as the brick & walking stone textures. On seeing the image it did
hit me as a little odd there was not a little snow still on the flat
rock slabs given the ground distribution of snow is relatively even -
from a gentle snow fall.

Brilliant! It's so hot here in South Africa, I feel like I could eat that
snow ;)
I really like that door as well -how did you do it? Image maps or
procedural?

Hi Bill,
Yes, I think the grid lines are a result of me using a crackle texture in the
snow, it has a fairly high turbulence .25 so I would have thought that would
remove the lines but am guessing that is the reason (if not I am stumped).
Ahh, I brushed the snow off of the wall but was too lazy to clean up the snow on
the ground (or was it I was too lazy to model the snow on the wall...) Of course
I think you are correct here and I will add that to my final tweaks of this
image before a final render.

Hi Nekar,
I would look for some fresher stuff if I was you, it is only 9 degrees (C) here
in the UK so I have to say I am a bit jealous.
All the textures are procedural (except the leaves/tree which are XFrog so come
with image maps).
The door is (as Thomas spotted) pretty much a copy of the one in my Old Royal
IRTC train scene http://www.irtc.org/stills/2006-08-31.html just with a
different texture applied.
