Here's another classic space lego model, probably the first large set I ever
owned...
I think the shade of grey is too light; it's hardly distinguishable from the
white. I also had to alter the transparent blue colour to make it darker. Apart
from that, this is nice.
It's quite relaxing building lego in a computer!

You are cruel - this is one of the other very few LEGO space models neither I
nor my brother ever owned ourselves... still hurts!
Must have been about the second generation of space models, right after the
classic blue/grey ships.

I think it's one of the earliest ones actually, I found some scans of
instruction sheets that date this at 1981, whereas the previous render I posted
is from 1984.

Yeah, as I guessed - the blue/grey ones I'm referring to are the 1978/79
models...
It's interesting to see how many Lego space models I actually did not own (nor
my brother) - and yet only two really stuck as "missing": The 1979 grey
two-seater "space shuttle" (seen here recently, too), and this 1981 "starfleet
voyager".
Maybe it's because a neighbor of ours *did* have them... I bet I'd have wanted
other models like the 1980 "X-1 patrol craft" as well if that guy had owned it
too...
Anyway, the "starfleet voyager" was the "most missing" of them all...

Ah, right. I don't think I've ever seen any of those. Must google for them.

It's certainly a nice model, and sticks in my mind because it was the earliest
and (for a long time) largest I had. I like the earlier ones better in some
ways because they were built from more 'bog-standard' bricks; in the Voyager
there are very few speciality space parts, whereas many of the later models
(late 80s onwards) seemed to be all fancy wings, engines and snazzy window
panels.
I'm trying to master flexible hoses using LSynth at the mo - many of the models
I own use these and it's fiddly, grr. I shall unleash some more renders in a
couple of days :)

Same with me! (Although the mid-1975's lunar module was a bit *too* much
bog-standard only; but then again, it seemes that "Lego space" hadn't really
come into existence as a separate series back then.)

You need an HDRI dome so the pieces have something to reflect.
