Yes, I've been meaning to experiment with MCPov a bit more, but time has been
rather tight for me lately.

As it turns out, it was the massive focal blur along with radiosity normals that
were slowing things down so much. Here's another version I did today using the
Stanford Lucy statue. The AO and regular passes for this version rendered in
just over 6 hours (for both) with minimal focal blur and radiosity normals off.

Cheers,
-Rob

Fantastic!
My only gripe is that the bricks should be dirtied up a lot to make the Ivy
believable.

Really beautiful.

I was wondering how you imported the Lucy statue into POV-Ray. I went to the
Stanford 3D Scanning Repository (one source for Lucy), took a look at the PLY
file format stuff there, then went to PoseRay to see if it could import PLY
files. But it doesn't. Did you do an intermediate step, like using MeshLab?

Blender imports PLY. I used it to import the standford bunny and then
use a low-res version of it in a povray scene "radiosity and bunnies",
in p.b.i...

Yep, I used MeshLab to convert to OBJ, and PoseRay to convert OBJ to Mesh2.

Thanks! (To you and to nemesis, for his Blender info.) Haven't used Blender yet,
so I'll try MeshLab. There are some wonderful and detailed PLY objects
available, to bring into POV-Ray. Looking forward to trying them out.
