Did you see my previous post? I have access to some 8-core machines.

A way to greatly accelerate area_light is to add adaptive 0 or adaptive 1 if you
get artefacts. That way, your area_light is almost as fast as a regular light
for most of the scene, it only slow down in the penumbrae. Optimum aray for
adaptive are: 5, 9, 17, 33, 65,... Even in the penumgrae, an adaptive area_light
don't sample every points of the array, just those whose neibours are different.

You know you've been raytracing too long when you read about an algorithm or
datastructure and your first thought is: "How can I use this to speed up
raytracing?"

Very nice, but my only crit would be to tan the coffee table glass a
little as it's quite hard to see at the moment, (for me anyway), but keep up
the good work, it's looking good!

Thanks to everyone for all of the critique. WE had to show our teacher to day
our progress, and he was extremely pleased with my work. Thanks to all who
helped with it.
I'll post new pics soon, but I've started the animation portion, so I might
intersperse an animation here or there.

A suggestion for the animation... take the ceiling off all the rooms
and start your flight path by looking down from above... like a floor
plan or 2-D drawing... then drop down into one of the rooms and wander
about on a spline path.
Love the work so far. Won't be offended if you ignore this suggestion :-)

I had already planned a spline for a fly-around, but I love the idea of
"dropping in a room." I will include it, and thank you for your suggestion.

I tried a radiosity scene to see if it worked correctly. And indeed, I
have a problem... The progress bar goes *nuts* during the prerender
radiosity passes :) But that seems to be the only problem.

[oops, accidentally sent before finishing]
My offer stands: email me your sources and I'll render your animation
using a few 8-cores and a dozen dual-cores :)

Thank you very much for the offer, but I managed to tie some of my own computers
together, and, using school resources, got it to render a lot quicker. I posted
the 20 second animation on youtube, at the folowing location:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7PekTXAfhQY
I admit it fell victim to Youtube's compression system, but that animation shows
of my entire house, including a few unrealistic passing through walls and glass.
I managed to do a trick with frames so that the roof only apears after you
enter, and therefore could do a drop into a room.
I will be duplicating this message in the animation section as well, but though
I should include a copy in the thread of this project.
As always, comments are welcome and greately appreciated.

What you can do is use interior_texture for your roof/ceiling. Use
pigment{Clear} for the outside and the current ceiling texture inside.
