I like this scene tremendously.

So, I hate to make a few (small) comments, but why else post, if there are
no comments? :-)

I think the lava-like ground looks strange, and I would expect that on
Hawaii, not in the Autralian bush, or am I horribly mistaken? Why not use
some really well-weathered, lateritic (red) soil or sandstone texture?

Good work on the plants and reeds. They may need a little bit more
randomness around the y-axis, or suggest some breeze, but then have them
bend more or less in one general direction.

Kenneth already mentionned the heron. The model is excellent, but the
ruffled feathers are difficult to get right, I guess.

I like the hut and the wood texture.

Overall, great image! Waiting for more!!

Thomas

Wow! I like this... It looks very peaceful. I want to eat a picnic there.
(Maybe I'm a bit hungry so my stomach had to add it's comment too) How was
the house constructed? Which modeling program or is it CSG?
Charles

Excellent Joanne! Like Charles has said, I too would like to picnic
there, but more than that, I would like to live there. My type of place, and
in fact, I lived in a place very similar to that (the environment), when I
was a nipper. (Sigh, it got burned down - long story). :/

Good composition, nice pov. Heron could do with a little more work, but
good so far.

My first thought was "I would have thought Camp Davis would be better
upkept." Then I realized... wrong kind of Bush. :-)

Impressive detail and complexity. The grass and reeds are particularly
good and add much of the realism. I would be intereseted in how you got
the wavy look to the tall grass.

Excellent scene!
I agree with Thomas comment about the lava.
I must add my 2 cents : the relatively sharp shadows make think of a bright
sun but the light is faint. I'd multiply sun rgb value by 1.5 or more.

Marc said - The heron looks like it has too few triangles(?) Is it a
bicubic_patch model? If so, you might want to increase the patches' u_steps
and v_steps, to make it smoother.
Yes, heron still needs work. It's a mesh2 modelled in Wings3D. Too many
feathers and Wings3D dies from overwork.

Spot on with Australia - and the next version of the ground will be more
lateritic, as is most of the dirt where I live.

Charles said - How was the house constructed? Which modeling program or is
it CSG?
It's all Wings 3D and procedural textures - simple cubes with some
additional modelling on the ones nearest the camera.

Jim said - I would be intereseted in how you got the wavy look to the tall
grass.
All of the plants are meshes - modelled in XFrog, PlantStudio and I think
one is from 3DCafe.

Sorry I didn't say that even if I agree ... Kenneth did :-)
