I've been running into memory problems with the tar surface - an
isosurface with a max-gradient of between 100-200. So I rather made a
height-field using a black to white gradient for depth. I had to use
normals for the stony texture because I would have had to use an image
30000 pixels high to get the stone bumps showing in a heightfield.

I think the bricks are fine now. I still need to add doors, windows and
fire-escape steps, etc.

Hi,

Those are very interesting changes from your last post. The new tar looks a lot
better, but maybe a little too bumpy. I would imagine that tar would be a little
smoother on top, even if it's covering a bumpy surface because tar is so
viscous.

The lighter-colored objects that run along the bottom and middle of the building
on the left look better now by adding some contrast to the building and framing
the flower. However, in my opinion the previous brick colors, being darker than
the new colors, contrasted better with the sunflower. I think adjusting the
light so that it shines on the sunflower more is an improvement.

One suggestion might be to add some curvature to the sunflower stem, if
possible.

Tar gives a smooth surface, but is hardly never used by itself. It's 
mixed with gravel, sand, rubber, pulverised glass, some fibers and other 
things to make asphalt.
Asphalt is much more stiff than tar.
That aley is not covered with tar but with croase asphalt.

Sunflowers stems are prety straight, only curving near the flower itself.

This was intended.

BTW my sunflower macro does have an option to follow the sun using  
sunpos.inc. (obviously, I've switched that option off for this scene)
