I was having difficulties in visualizing what effects a color_map would produce with
different patterns. So I wrote a macro that produces this image and writes a text file
of
the pov color_map definition. If there is any interest I will post it in utilities.

That was quick! Yes, of course you can change the colors, and the intervals.
It will appear in p.b.utilities.

Thank you for your macro. It is an excellent contribution to the
Pov Community. I also have had difficulties in visualizing the effects
color maps.
I would, however, say this. If you could produce a macro defining
say the basic geology, via a sloped mapped height field, of Glasgow,
I would sorely impressed.

Thanks Peter. As an ardent amateur geologist I would be more than delighted to pander
to
your request, but as yet am unable to comply. I have it in mind to try some height
field
modelling of, perhaps, Glencoe - one of the many projects in the "would like to do"
category :-)

I've done it about a hundred times with my locker when I was in
high-school. I could open the thing with a phone card, plastic ruler,
coat hanger, ping-pong paddle, medium-sized paperback book, etc. in
less than three seconds. Ah, the things one learns in school...
