I like the atmospheric feel to this, the only thing that I think I'd 
change is the roof, it looks a bit too smooth and the grain in the 
wood or whatever the material is looks too straight, maybe give it
a bit more turbulence. This has made it into the wallpaper directory.

This is a great picture. What I like best, is the light shining through the
windows and illuminating the ground fog, and those stark trees. They
actually look menacing because they're so spiky. The scene composition is
very good, that is, the various elements combine to create the proper mood.

My suggestions: attach the gates to the gate posts, add a chimney (so the
evil inhabitants of the cottage can cook up various potions), and alter the
ground texture. Currently it doesn't look like ground, it's too smooth.

I like the atmosphere in this image; perhaps a bit too much light (then again
I'm viewing it in a dark room).
Only thing that bothers me is the apparent discrepancy between the overall
shabby, decaying look, and the clean, expensive looking gate. Or is the fence
falling apart because the owner blew all his money on 'em gargoyles? ;)

Thought I'd group responses all into one message:

Sleepy Hollow? Cool. That's one I haven't rented yet. :{)

There's actually a lot of variation in the wood patterns and the board
placements on the roof. I think the camera angle, lighting and distance are
all contributing to the smooth effect of the roof. In future incarnations I
may go for a shingled roof instead.

The trees are actually Splinetrees. Fairly simple variants. I just played
around with the settings until I got what I liked.

I may replace the gate altogether, and go for something that fits in better
with the fencing.

I'm very happy with the media (ground fog). The ground sucks, and I know it.
I haven't come up with a ground yet that works well in the scene without
interfering overmuch with any of the other elements.

The image is a bit bright, I know. But I really wanted the details to show
up on the house. Also, I'm trying to set the scene on a moonlit night, at
the tail end of sunset.

One of the things that still bothers me is the brightness of the light
escaping past the curtains in the house. Trying to get the right balance of
apparent brightness in the media, and the brightness of the curtains is
driving me a little mad. :{P

Attached is a close-up image of the house itself.

i love the freaky lit up fog, thats so damn good, as for the ground, why not
just add a fine bump to stop it looking so flat, dosnt need to be anything
fancy (unless you want to borrow some ones hair macro?)
