Ok, I've made a few changes... camera position, from night
to day to sunset, and the lightning. I'm not happy with the
lightning, or the sky, but I'm still working on those. The
brighter lighting here should let people get a better idea of
what's going on. Comments appreciated. Thanks :)

It is very difficult indeed to see what is going on: perhaps you could
make the figures brighter, then again: this might ruin your set-up. I
like the lighting with all the camera artifacts!

Thanks for the comment. It's hard to make the figures themselves
brighter, as they are completely transparent (so the only way you
can see them is through the refraction [hmm... I wonder about
values of transmit higher than 1... I'll give that a try and see
what happens :)]). I could switch from sunset to full day, so the
background would be brighter. Maybe I should add more lights
(that would also brighten up the background).

OK, I'm rambling here :) Time to quit talking, and start tracing...

Right. They look so much like Star Wars, however, that I
might replace them with models of traditional weapons. I
like the glow, though :)

So you just did a white, ambient 1 cylinder surrounded by a slightly larger,
transmit 0.whatever cylinder. How'd you get the outer cylinder to actually
illuminate the objects around it? The documentation says emmitting media
doesn't actually act as a light source...

Actually, I used a completely transparent cylinder, with cylindrical
density and a color map ranging from white (at the center) to red (or
green). Then, I lined up a 1d area light on the sword. :)

Thanks. Could I see the bit of scene code for the swords?
