Thanks. I am not yet entirely satisfied with the "green" one. The main
difficulty being the impossibility to obtain an image of the real stuff.
What there is is not really helpful.

Yes, I know. That is the only (serious) place where it is shown and
described more or less extensively. I have read/used part of the info
there to model the texture; but the image shown is crap indeed.
I had not looked at the contact info in a serious way until now. Maybe
they have something better: the quarry seems not to have been in
exploitation very long. According to the report, between 1991 and (at
least) 1997, when it is said to be 'closed'.
Fun: I tried to locate the quarry using Google Earth. I came close
indeed, following the description in the report, but got stuck. I found
Maybe street/road names changed in the meantime (although I doubt it).
And no trace of a quarry in that wooded region, although they are
described to be situated on the top of the hills.

I know this is stupid :-) but I think I found the probable site of the
carefully the directives. Attached an overview Google Earth snapshot.
White arrow points to the place.

I gotta agree that Dakota Red has more visual interest but the green variation
will certainly have a place in many scenes as well. I think "Flanders Gray" is
going to be the best of all. I can hardly wait for it! Please quit your job so
you can work on Granite_21 full-time! I think it's going to be perfect for my
current/never-ending project...
PS - The veins are looking good!

LOL! If I had a job to quit, I would gladly do so! However, I am beyond
job age, but RL/RW still have their demands, and the brain is not as
supple as it used to be in days of yore. Not even speaking of the old
bones... ;-)

You and I are in similar situations - and I believe that exercise is important
to keeping the brain healthy (along with good nutrition and avoiding
establishment media of course) and POV-Ray is a great way to give the brain a
good workout!
