Here is another one: the fruits are still the same, but I changed the
bowl material to glass, with dispersion and photons (8h). It doesn't
looks as great as I hopped, but it's nice anyhow.

It does add a lot of believability though.

Notice: you have the function(s) using (u,v), it is just up to you to
write a small code in C or whatever to explore the uv surface (two
nested for() ), and get for each value a point (x,y,z)
Then connect them in a mesh (in whatever format you need)

In fact, the small C code could as well output your mesh.

Yeah... and rendering time: lots of it! :) This one would have taken
at least 4-5 days for an "all-in-one" render, but I managed to render it
under 8h by saving radiosity and photons beforehand.

The photons where saved without using radiosity nor area light nor
focal blur, but using the final glass texture with dispersion. It
rendered in some minutes.

The radiosity (Radiosity_Normal) was saved without using photons, nor
area light nor focal blur, and also making the glass just rgbt 1. Again
this pass rendered in some minutes.

The final pass loaded the photons and radiosity, and used area lights
and focal blur (35 samples). It took 7h52m.

Now that I've a setup reasonably fast, I will try to do a better job
with the fruits...

Those are absolutely gorgeous images. Something for me to aspire to (in maybe 20
years' time!!)

Well, in fact it took me almost 20 years to arrive at that level...
but I'm slow in getting things right, and laziness doesn't helps. I'm
really sure you can get there a bit sooner... ;)

Gorgeous! In the tradition of all those past painter artists...

Why not to go further with POV-Ray, and create new type of fruits?

Nice idea, but one that needs a very good imagination at work... not
my case, unfortunately. :(
