I have started a new scene for my Iskander series, located (again) in the
Apollo temple model I built a couple of years ago.

Used here: LightSys with a high turbidity setting (simulates the sunlight
during Harmattan season); Real Camera of Edouard Poor, with as yet very low
blur samples as is obvious; radiosity with also very low samples. Rendered
in 25 minutes on a dual core machine and using POV-Ray 3.7, latest beta.

Very nice lighting. I was interested to learn about the "Harmattan" winds. Where
I live we have annual winds called "Santa Ana" winds that are hot instead of
cool.

Looks very promising so far.

Nice. Bring on the high-quality renders. Ahead, quality factor 9!

Thanks. I was reminded of the Harmattan by Stephen, while working on my
current entry to the "Money" challenge of TC-RTC. It remained in my memory
and came out again for this scene :-)

I was surprised to learn that the Harmattan is a (relatively) cool wind,
coming from the desert. However, I suppose that is mainly because the Gulf
of Guinea itself is stifflingly hot (and humid) in contrast. Deserts are
very cold at night of course, but that is probably not the whole explanation
as I am no desert expert, and the Santa Ana is hot as you say, so more
parameters are at play here...

Thanks, Stephen. Interestingly, this is mainly the result of the lighting
which casts that yellowish sheen over the building, which is grey by itself.

Thanks indeed. Much to do yet and slowly going further.

Thanks Bill. Quality will come in due time and at a cost of course. I just
determined that I shall need at least 200 blur samples in order to eliminate
the ugly pixels in the far-middle ground where the light bands cast between
the columns are crowding closer together. So, render time will get a lot
higher...
