These images reminded me that I had my own POV-Ray planet-generator
somewhere on one of my disks :)

Assuming this planet is about the same size as Earth, the visible
atmosphere would be about 240 km (150 miles) thick. I wonder how
realistic that is... :P

Well done!
Suggestion? A night texture, with lights over the cities.

What if it's a planet without civilization?

I based it on photos of earth :P
Though the scale of this planet is really inconsistent, the cities & roads
are way to big (seriously, roads visible from space!). It's only intended
for use in the background of one image, and it's meant to be a futuristic
earth-like planet, so I'm taking a lot of liberties for artistic license.
The main aim is to make it look "planety"...
So criticisms & suggestions are appreciated, but I might choose ignore them
;)

Those glowing regions just on the edge of the dark side of the planet are
meant to be cities at night (the patches of grey dotty areas are their
daytime versions), though at present I've just added a bit of ambient glow
to the city pattern (Rather than a more realistic pattern of lights).

LOL! Yes, from a "major" deity... ;-)

I like this a lot. My only quibble was the lack of a south polar ice
cap to match the visible north one, but then I realized we're looking at
it from a viewing angle that doesn't show both. In other words, just
ignore me :)
