I usually stick to SDL because I can't model anything,
but I stumbled across a free beta version of a piece of
software claiming to be the easiest 3D modeller:
http://www.cbmodelpro.com/
It actually has a very nice user interface and was seriously
fun to play with. Not sure if it has enough control for those
people who actually *can* model, but a nice way to get
organic shapes for someone like me.
Oh, and it wasn't my intention to model anything naughty,
just happened to start out with a sphere and the pull point
tool and free association took over ;)

It looks like a commercial application, but as far as
I understand you will be allowed to operate the beta
indefinitely after registering it. It initially comes
with a time lock ... but so does POV-Ray 3.7b ;)

Yes, well, its more the other way round, when posting in
a public newsgroup you don't know who is easily offended.
I recall even an IRTC winner with a nude female ghost
got a bit of a negative comment for that ;)

probably not be very expensive once beyond the beta stage, as they want

Ah, OK. I think the preferred way is to make that clear in the subject.
As in "CB Model Pro [mild nudity]" or even in this case "CB Model Pro
[possible to interpret as mild nudity with a dirty mind]". So easily
offended people can decide not to look, now you read it while the
picture is already on the screen.

Yes, apparently it's based on a technology they initially
developped for kids, which suits my skills just fine ;)

The only thing I can't quite understand is their interest in
spreading the beta and asking for feedback via the forums, but
limiting forum access (even view) to existing customers. I'm
still searching for any kind of email contact to ask if that
is intentional, as I already found a reproducible crash
which I thought it would be nice of me to report.
