Like so many here, I seem to have difficulties to finish running projects 
:-(   Each time, new ideas present themselves...

So, here is a very preliminary WIP. I know, looks a bit like Independance 
Day, but in my view this is going to be very different. However, for the 
spaceship, I couldn't avoid Zeger Knaepen's unsurpassed greebles macros of 
course :-)

Use of media, light_group for a separate lighting of the spaceship, no 
radiosity as yet. Height_field should be further treated. Sphere in centre 
is placeholder.

This WIP rendered with version 3.7. However, I prefer an earlier render 
using Megapov with Clip_Colors() and exposure settings.

Yes, join the club.  I'm just now finishing a couple POV projects from years ago

Yes, that's a very nice atmosphere.  The view feels just a bit taller than is
comfortable for me, but maybe it just needs a couple more objects.  Really
shows promise though.

Thank you Ricky. I selected the view's proportion on purpose, exagerating 
the vertical size. At the end of the day, I shall see if that will hold out 
as it depends strongly on the as yet absent other objects/props.

I am glad you wrote them! This is now the third time I use them. Before, 
once for an IRTC entry (sept/Oct 2006), and once for the first scene of my 
Cathy's World Series.

Here is the next WIP from this project.

The philosophy behind the scene is that first contacts (almost) always are 
catastrophic for the contacted population. Assuming that hypothetical aliens 
know this, they will sample the Earth in the most remote areas, avoiding 
contact with humans.

A sprinkling of rocks on the desert floor is needed. I shall look if I can 
do something to the very visible edge on the dromedary's belly.

      Looking forward to seeing more of this particular scene Thomas! You 
have a great way of providing atmosphere in your images.

     Wings? If so, I've had the same sometimes and literally getting rid of 
that particular line can work. Or bevelling the line could be another 
option.

      Also, have you tried lights on the ship? (Would this work through 
media ok?)

Thank you indeed, Steve. It remains always a struggle, though, to get it 
right. But that is all the fun, isn't it?

The model comes from the Taschen Object Collection and is of medium quality. 
I had already subdivided the mesh in Poseray, but this particular edge needs 
personal attention. I am going to load the model in Silo (Wings of course 
would do too, but Silo is my favorite) and see how the patient looks like. 
Also, I am exploring the possibilities to pose the figure. Theoretically, 
this should be possible to do in the Setup Room of Poser, adding bones, and 
attaching those to the geometry. However, I discovered this to be a major 
challenge. <rubs hands and grins>

That is an excellent idea, Steve! Ambient 1 spots should do the trick, like 
the red and green ones on the explorer unit. Should pose no problems with 
the media I guess.
